Guest neesy111
Looks around 30-35k at the SoL. announced as 38k, radio Newcastle reckon closer to 30k To be fair, every club in the country (us included) reports the attendance based on ticket sales rather than actual bums on seats. They have to for tax purposes.

They have to for tax purposes. Is this true, or just completely made up? Tickets are all sold at various different prices, concessions and sometimes are completely free - how (and why) would the HMRC waste their time checking attendances announced over the speakers to make sure taxes are paid? No, they have to as the club needs to declare every ticket which had paid VAT. People don't realise businesses have to record every single transaction if they are VAT enabled for their VAT bill. Don't know why it needs to be announced though.

Aye, they need to record them etc. But it doesn't stop them announcing the actual attendance over the speakers (which is what the conversation was about). They can record the actual sales figures in their accounts but the HMRC aren't going to run around breaking doors in if we announced the "bums on seat" figure over the speakers. BlackandWhite
"Our fans are the best in the league" Half of them fail to show up to support the team as soon as relegation is all but confirmed. We still got a full house vs Spurs with relegation confirmed

Just read up on this, apparently it used to be a rule back in the day before the PL etc but it's changed. So it's up to the club now.
