They have to look at what their aims are and what they are doing wrong. For too long they have been near the bottom, and for too long have they been scraping it at the last minute. They need a good clear out, obviously there are too many players at that club who are not good enough, not appointing the right managers etc. The are near Boro and not all that far from Sunderland who both have decent academies. They need to be looking at the players there who are not good enough to break into the first teams and see if they are good enough for lower level football and offer them first team football. A couple of seasons in the conference building with good quality youngsters could be the making of them.

I normally agree that relegations can be a necessary evil if it helps teams clear the decks and rebuild. But going out of the Football League is truly a nightmare. Since the professionalization of non-league the top end National League sides are stronger than the bottom half League Two teams, and you always have a couple of well-backed clubs making their way up the League system.

With only 1 direct place to go up (compared to 3 in League Two for example), it can be extremely difficult to get out of.

Luton are a much bigger club than Pools and they were stuck down half a decade.

They desperately need to get rid of their owner. When the Norwegians were in it they might not have had loads of money but they tended to have a good eye for a manager and always seemed to find one player to sell on to give them money to survive on.

Tony Adams has no business managing against Real Madrid like.  Reserves or not.

Just like that time Des Hamilton played at Camp Nou.

Every time it goes to him he's just dancing on the sidelines. He's having the greatest coke session of all time.

I'm not going to dispute that it's a disaster, however the club have not taken notice of previous warnings. They have continued to exist purely to survive, and not taken their chances to rebuild. Now disaster has struck, they have to face it, they have to re-evaulate their options and aims. Do they want to be a team who moves up the football ladder? or do they want to simply be a cheaper option to Boro/2nd club to fans in Teesside? If they answers is the first one then they need to rebuild, if the answer is being a 2nd option then they can settle as being a non-league club, ultimately going semi-professional.

They have to face this relegation head on, they aren't owned by a rich man as clubs like Forest Green Rovers, they don't have the fanbase as the as the likes of Luton, so they can't offer big wages to big names to bring them back, so their only option is to dip into the local talent pool.

I'd love to think Exeter deliberately threw that game because they knew they'd do Carlisle in the Play Offs.
