My very uninformed opinion is that there's too many of the USMNT players playing in the MLS. That whole "repatriaton" trend of the past few years to bring them back to the league has hurt the competitiveness of the team's backbone, imho.

The NCAA college system doesn't work for football either - they need to get under 16's straight into professional clubs and not bother with an education.

I know nothing about Panamanian football except there used to be a fairly decent Calgliari striker called Julio Dely Valdes around 1993ish.  I always thought he'd be a good signing for us (I was about 10 at the time and fancied myself as a bit of a football scout)

(Totally pointless post i know but probably the only time i'll ever get the chance to share that fascinating story.)

Just having a deeks at their squad. Didn't realise they were all old as fuck. Proper last chance to do it job. Marvelous stuff. Get big Blas Pérez on that bloody plane.

Aye, 9 of their top 10 most capped players are in the current squad - ladgeful for Luis Henriquez but I'm sure he'll attempt to come back for it.

It’s improving and there have been notable successes (our current RB, for one), but this is true. Pulisic for example certainly wouldn’t have developed this well had he gone the high school -> college route.

Can't wait for Liverpool vs Man Utd to be done with. Sky seems to be treating it as the premier league's answer to el clasico, it's not that, Man U have been a level above them for something like 25 years. They've got a rivalry and it's a pretty big game, that's it, please calm down.

Weren't both games last season absolutely awful? Definitely one of them was a diabolical 0-0 on a Monday night that they'd been touting all weekend.

Mourihno's involved. It's going to be absolutely shit. It's only ever not when the opposition's quality goes beyond his defensive, boring tactics.
