His first touch is absolutely shocking for a player anywhere near this level. The same as his dribbling under any sort of pressure. Decision making and passing not much better. He is pretty fast, can strike a ball well and through volume and work. His goals and assists I’d imagine are pretty good for minutes played the last season or two. I’d guess he attempts more shots and crosses per 90 than most on our team. Which I am not saying is a bad thing BTW. Howe has done a very good job of turning him into an effective player for us. But his technical ability is nowhere near this level. It’s not even me having a go at him. It is just that he has massive limitations and they are magnified in certain games and moments. Pilko Posted Saturday at 17:00 Share Posted Saturday at 17:00 Weird performance, missed several good chances and gave the ball away in bad areas constantly but walked off with two goals. Got to be happy on balance I guess
mighty__mag Posted Saturday at 17:00 Share Posted Saturday at 17:00 (edited) The reason so many get behind him, is because he's a tryer, a guy who'll never moan when left out, a lad who raises spirits and puts a smile on other players faces, is he good enough to play in our first team with our ambition, no, is he good enough as back up in the future, probably still no, but given the restrictions put on us, we have no choices but to use him, he frustrated the shite out of me today, then he scores, then he scores again, ironically at the time he's hauled off, I'm then wanting him to stay on? That's what you get with Jacob Murphy. Edited Saturday at 17:01 by mighty__mag
TRon Posted Saturday at 17:02 Share Posted Saturday at 17:02 They were two cracking strikes tbf. He'd be a good squad player, but unless we want to sell a purple, it would be a great time to cash in.
Gawalls Posted Saturday at 17:05 Share Posted Saturday at 17:05 A lot of the times we’ve smashed opposition he’s been on and contributed, the spurs game and this spring too mind before I even go diving for more yet people still slag him off. He’s no world beater but we have worse - he’s not even the worst we have in that position.
St1pe Posted Saturday at 17:09 Share Posted Saturday at 17:09 Has a knack of contributing G/A. I love him as a squad player. Hopefully he can produce a bit more regularly until we get someone in.

Extremely likeable, works really hard and can score and assist when called upon. Now he’s treated as something we must suffer through.

Only by the fans - players seem to speak very highly of him, we’ve heard before of players that are kept around as they offer so much off the field as well. Maybe he also adds to that category. It's a shame, because he is all of those things, but he's also lacking in some really top tier football assets. He's a perfect squad player really, would be a very important member as well, but because of the PSR noose, we have to sell players, and if it's not him or someone like him, it will be Isak or Bruno. Miggy goes long before Murphy. Along with a few others. With PSR he’s the perfect squad player for us right now.

Ginola14 Posted Saturday at 17:33 Share Posted Saturday at 17:33 before he scored his second it looked like he blazed over from a similar position replay showed it was an unbelievable save and should have been a corner shouldn't be criticised for that one

David Edgar Posted Saturday at 18:36 Share Posted Saturday at 18:36 Infuriating player but has end product and has a solid defensive contribution. I cannot stand him at times. We are just gonna have to put up with him giving the ball away in dangerous areas almost weekly and also really struggle to maintain possession or have an impact against high pressing, technical sides. I will always back the fact that he is one of the most productive wingers in Europe though. Outrageous stats on him.
