Who crosses the ball in better than this lad in the league? Barely anyone, and his confidence has grown enough that he occasionally tries to take it past his man now. Made up for him how much he’s made of his career, ridiculously impressive

He's come a ridiculously long way like hasn't he?

Let's be honest, he's been here 40 years. He had to come good at some time ;) . Love ya Murph!

That bendy pass/low cross he does put in at pace which the rat benefited from last season is so nice on the eyes.

Also has a good thunder cunt of a strike on him great display. Hard to argue him not continuing to be our starter out on that side despite putting barnes out there working this game with his 2 goals (dont remember it working so well for Harvey out there last season),

Yeah, until Elanga develops into the hyperMurphy he's destined to become, Jacob needs to start the big games.

Seem to recall vile chodes like Kaka dismissing his crossing ability, only ever focusing on Murphy's flaws while suggesting that we'd be much better off with Elanga or any other right winger. Such people prate without understanding aught of which they're saying. But will they own up to the fact or come in here on bended knee seeking forgiveness?

Can I like this just for the use of the word “choad”? Underrated abusive term.

I'll never change my opinion on Murphy.

Love him in the final third. Everywhere else on the pitch he scares the living daylights out of me on the ball.

Yesterday was a great game for him to play in. Benfica were low intensity and sat off us and allowed us to play, and these are the sorts of conditions where he should be in the team.

Any opposition that looks to press us and apply pressure, and personally, I don't really want him on the pitch. It ends up being almost impossible to do anything down the right side as we can't even advance the ball down that flank.

Newcastle vs Bournemouth last season at home when we got smashed 4-1 is the perfect example of this sort of instance.

Any success this season will largely be influenced by making the right call on who to play on the right side, depending on the opposition.

Same here. As long as we are prepared to see him as an important squad player, then he can always play his part in the season. I don't see him as undroppable though. There'll be times when his general play and crossing ability are what we need, and there'll be times when we need pace and a direct threat down that side.

Agree, another problem is that with Burn at LB it's not fluid down the left at times either.

I've gone from a hater to a fan of Murphy but he still really worries me at times. Try not to focus on his errors though, his contributions have become vital to us.
