Had a long debate with my daughter today about the name she might have on shirt for the season - Murphy was in the top 3. Obviously pushing it for the letter count. And holding back that Bruno has a surname. Other one was "Burn". Long gone are the days where an Old Trafford goal led me to investing in "Papavasileiou". Rafa is great at conveying tactical concepts but I don’t know if I’ve seen evidence of him building someone’s confidence. I think he inspires through his ideas and just assumes elite sports people have the mentality or they don’t. Eddie doesn’t seem that way. Pancrate1892 Posted August 7, 2023 Share Posted August 7, 2023 I think Murphy has always had the tools (pace and a good strike on him) but he was never a LWF which is where he's always played pre Howe. We understand inside forwards better now and understand why he might be able to hurt the opposition from that side of the pitch, however some players just look better on their natural side and if anything he still maintains a goal threat from the right side of the pitch whilst also giving us a bit width whether that's RWF or right fullback/wingback. When we had that disastrous start against Liverpool at home he actually went to right fullback at 10 men and played really well which he probably didn't get the recognition at the time.
