Jacob "The Juice" Murphy

Recommended Posts

The reason so many get behind him, is because he's a tryer, a guy who'll never moan when left out, a lad who raises spirits and puts a smile on other players faces, is he good enough to play in our first team with our ambition, no, is he good enough as back up in the future, probably still no, but given the restrictions put on us, we have no choices but to use him, he frustrated the shite out of me today, then he scores, then he scores again, ironically at the time he's hauled off, I'm then wanting him to stay on? That's what you get with Jacob Murphy.

A lot of the times we’ve smashed opposition he’s been on and contributed, the spurs game and this spring too mind before I even go diving for more yet people still slag him off. He’s no world beater but we have worse - he’s not even the worst we have in that position.

Indeed. Funny thing about him is that he’d be loved by us in the early to mid-90’s teams. Extremely likeable, works really hard and can score and assist when called upon. Now he’s treated as something we must suffer through.

Only by the fans - players seem to speak very highly of him, we’ve heard before of players that are kept around as they offer so much off the field as well. Maybe he also adds to that category.

It's a shame, because he is all of those things, but he's also lacking in some really top tier football assets. He's a perfect squad player really, would be a very important member as well, but because of the PSR noose, we have to sell players, and if it's not him or someone like him, it will be Isak or Bruno.

Miggy goes long before Murphy. Along with a few others. With PSR he’s the perfect squad player for us right now.

Miggy isn't going to make much of a dent in PSR assuming anyone will even buy him now. But yes in theory I would love that.

Infuriating player but has end product and has a solid defensive contribution.

I cannot stand him at times. We are just gonna have to put up with him giving the ball away in dangerous areas almost weekly and also really struggle to maintain possession or have an impact against high pressing, technical sides.

I will always back the fact that he is one of the most productive wingers in Europe though. Outrageous stats on him.

Yeah good point, I was never jumping for joy when Steve Watson came on, mainly because he wasn't as flamboyant as those around him in Keegan sides, but, his versatility, and his attitude were of a high standard.

We used him all over the place, ended up loving him, and gutted when he moved on.

Crazy game from him, he was 80% shit but walked away with two goals and could've had to assists too.

As a Murphy sceptic, I wouldn't say that. He made a couple of really bad mistakes but otherwise was OK to good. What percentage you put on it I don't know, but most of the stuff he did was fine - he just likes to spice it up by giving the ball away in critical situations a couple of times a game.

he was raging.

cupped his ear and kept shouting "what?! what?!".

Aye he seemed very angry. Could obviously feel the crowd on his back after a few misses/mistakes. Mind he should be used to it by now cos he gets it most weeks

He's the player who smashes the "Barnes gets goals and assists, therefore he must start" argument to pieces by taking it to absurd levels.

I'm a firm Murphy fan overall. Good lad who has genuine talents etc. But one of his issues is he tends to go off the boil after a 5 or 6 game run as a starter. Think you get the most out of him as an impact backup.
