Other clubs' transfers

Looks like they are ideally after a younger centre back with a decent amount of experience, to add to their rotation group.

However, the ones they want, want more regular playing time than Liverpool are willing to guarantee, because it's likely to be Konate and Van Dijk starting still.

This was the reason Quansah wanted to leave, as he wanted more first team playing time, and so they let him go, but added in the buy back clause, because they still wanted the option to bring him back in future if he develops as expected.

Seems they'd also consider Guehi, although he's a bit older than they'd prefer, if the fee is lower, as it would be too good and opportunity to turn down.

But it sounds like he'd possibly just rundown his contract at Palace instead and leave on a free next summer, because he too wants a certainty of his playing time with the World Cup coming up next year.

Isn't he leaving this summer since he turned down a new contract and has a year left?

Don't think Liverpool have said that.

They offered him a new contract a few days ago. Don't think they've announced no further negotiations are taking place and they have transfer listed him.

If it does come down to that and they look to sell him, I'd imagine that Guehi would then be much more open to joining them. From that tweet it sounds like he's not as keen at the minute, as Konate and VDV already have an established partnership at the back.

Liverpool's known for not paying big wages. Konate's on 80k a week. Only Salah and VVD get 400k. After that, it's Wirtz at 200k the rest are around 160 to 120. I reckon he's gone this summer, or he'll leave for free next year, with Madrid sniffing around. It will be interesting to see how Liverpool handle this situation.

Yeah, it will depend on what Konate is asking for.

They may prefer to keep him and let him walk on a free next summer too, so as not to have too much change at the back this summer. Particularly as they are already bringing in a new right back and left back to the backline already.

If Konate then leaves on a free they would then pick up Guehi on a free too, and so they may just accept that as no real loss.

Do they really need a 4th player capable playing as a striker? Its mental, Im so freaking tired of watching Chelsea on every god damn transfer rumour.

Seen some of their fans already moaning that Delap isn't good enough and they need another striker [emoji38]

Delap had a genuine chance of making World Cup squad if he made the correct move, but I just can’t see how he starts regularly enough (and performs as a result of coming in and out of a mixed side) to get Tuchel attention.

Just screams, “Club open to loan move” in January.

At this point it feel like they’re acting like the Old Firm north of the border, just hoover up all players who might be good in order to stifle competition. They honestly should’ve been nailed to the wall by the PL for the irregularities found from Roman's era, never mind the shit they’re pulling now.

THB is a bit of weird one, captain of the u21s but seemingly little hype even with his England call up. £19m is peanuts for a young England international, is he just not very good?

You'd imagine his numbers look awful given he played for Soton.

The buyback on Quansah is hefty-mind. Think they've put it in as an anti-Palmer measure, but not in the Real Madrid way. RM typically sell at a fair price, then has a good buyback or % clause on further transfers. Liverpool has secured a good price, so their buyback is substantial.

Guehi is the Konate replacement, it's just a case of bringing it forward if it suits. They like a youngster for the Quansah role - I don't think that fits the win now narrative previously discussed. It's just a continuation of what they wanted with Quansah - it's just that he wanted out.

Doesn't take much for Chelsea players to get England caps mind. Chalobah has one.

Think it’s how he’s not really made a step forward since his Burnley days. I wanted to see more from him last season, but he kept making wrong decisions so there’s probably enough there to scare off some sides if Southampton are wanting £25m+.

May well develop strongly over coming seasons, but I’d understand why Prem clubs are not sold on him right now.

Bild in Germany have reported the buy back as being 'over 60 million Euros', and so it is somewhere in the £50 million range.

Yeah, they like a youngster for that role because they already have VDV, Konate and Joe Gomez, all more experienced players. As the tweet stated it will have to be someone that is okay with not being guaranteed first team minutes.

Once VDV and Salah stayed on, the priority was to maximise their Prem and Champions League challenge over the next few years. They've added players that will be expected to come in and perform at the highest level straight away.

If they lose both VDV and Salah this summer, along with Trent, they likely go into a bit of a mini rebuild. Wirtz would likely have opted for Bayern or Man City instead.

In that scenario, they likely also give the likes of Bradley and Quansah more of an opportunity to stake a first team place, as they have shown the potential, but just need the reps, and a bit of leeway to play through some mistakes.

I think like a sensible top club - they are doing the rebuild with key older players in situ.

I don't think Bradley or Quansah are good enough to become VDV or Trent replacements. Neither is Guehi. Guehi is the Konate replacement. VDV replacement is to be determined.

If there was a good fee out there for Joe Gomez, they would sell him imo.

Liverpool's build is RM-like. Unless there's standouts, youth players are for squad roles. There's less "play through mistakes" squad development as a starter. You get minutes as a squad player. Or you go on loan/sold and try to come back as a starter.

It's a shame the likes of Curtis Jones are getting England starts while being rotation players for Liverpool.

Really good squad management from them unfortunately.
