Other clubs' transfers

Well when their asking for 70, bidding 50 is a carbon copy of Ashley making a bid and saying 'we tried'. Welcome to the world of British billionaires...its going to be a disappointing ride

I'm glad you're not a negotiator for anything important.

Ratcliffe investing £234m towards debt and infrastructure, revamping the training ground, hiring Berrada/Ashworth/Wilcox/Vivell etc. and working on deals for Ugarte/Branthwaite/Zirkzee/De Ligt simultaneously is anything but disappointing like. Again, knock yourself out.

Offering the exact amount a selling club is asking for isn't exactly the way you'd want your own club to handle transfers either though, is it?

They started at 40+5 (?) and have upped it to 45+5(?). If Man Utd are intent on getting him, I imagine they'll get him in the end for 55/60.

That's exactly the way we used to do business. And we were laughed at for it as well.

If this was Woodward, it would be like:

Woodward: Here's £30m for Branthwaite

Everton: We want £70m

Woodward: £75m is our final offer

Everton: Yeah OK then.

And has very publicly shown himself to be a whiny little bitch whenever he's had to pay more than a penny that he thinks someone is worth.

Penny pinching everywhere on staff that cost coppers compared to first team.

As before...he's not a billionaire by spending money

Let's give him some time and see how things go. Regarding your transfer business.

No I think we should write him off now because he doesn't want to instantly spend £70m on a one season centre back.

Think a better question is why would anyone perceive it as being mad?

You know what I was saying. :) Lot of energy spent railing against a transfer negotiation (not involving us!) that doesn’t seem all that preposterous, is all.

We were all here Froggy.

Just one example of low hanging, low effort Froggy vs Froggy.

Casemiro was one of the most important players in getting us back into the Champions League and winning our first trophy in years. It was hardly a laughable signing.

Not sure I've seen a drop off as big as Casemiro's mind.

I didn't want to believe it after one season but Casemiro's legs are properly gone. So you're essentially another man down in the midfield which then leaves a defence torn apart by injury to deal with an onslaught.

Casemiro is a bum at centre back. Stone useless.

I genuinely just think Casemiro has gone to shit.

Which was the exact criticism of the signing at the time - that you'd spent a ridiculous amount on someone who was old and whose legs were likely about to go

It's easy to be clever in hindsight, but this one in particular @Froggy ouch  You got a fair bit of bites though which may have been the main objective with the post at the time tbf.

Also worth noting that we were talking about Ed Woodward and his transfer policy, and K.I. has taken it upon himself to use Casemiro as an example of me allegedly defending Woodward, who left the club 6 months before Casemiro was signed.

Don't forget that narrative though.

Only if you don't look at the dates of the posts.

Literally two years apart ffs. That's embarassing.

You must admit that £60m for a player who has gone from being world class to someone who is a liability and whos legs have gone in 2 seasons is not sensible business though.

Beautiful benefit of hindsight isn't though? Everyone on here completely changed their tune about Casemiro once he actually started playing for us. Infact, many posters on here were desperately hoping he'd be injured when we played you. He was extremely important.

I'm sure many people expected a drop off, but I never expected one quite so severe. Still, he was arguably the most important player in finishing 3rd and winning a trophy, and if we can recoup a part of that fee, the signing is far from laughable.
