think its a bad move by Bartomeu not to try and come to some arrangement with him maybe not free but not €700m either, sure he's the best player in the world but he's not going to be in any way motivated to give half a shit about this season but hey now it won't be on Bartomeu's watch that Messi left and that seems to be all that matters to him no matter how much damage is done to the club in the crossfire

If barca win say two cups next season and Bartomeu leaves he will stay

What 2 cups are them?  They've got no chance in la liga and the champions league.

Messi to announce his decision at 6pm Spanish time.

He's now expected to stay.

Confirmed as staying.

Messi staying at Barcelona, Sancho staying at BVB. What are Sky Sports going to talk about all day now

It's hard to sell a player nobody's bidding for. It looks like the whole thing was dependant on him coming on a free.

It's a bad situation to be in, mind. Going to be a pretty nasty season.

Real Madrid aren't that good

Yet they are far better than Barcelona and have a much deeper squad.

Funny seeing Barcelona written off as no hopers for the la liga title like

Messi, a fit coutinho, dembele, fati, griezmann. De Jong in the middle. Some top young players coming through. Ter stegen in goal. Several players they can move on to free up loads of money like Vidal, Suarez etc.

They weren’t far off last year. Hardly got no chance

Why? before lockdown they they were favorites for la liga the other three cups they got to the Quarter-finals and semi i'd hardly call that a bad season or would i say real madrid are a million times better, With Coutinho back the possibility of a few signing or talent coming though we haven't seen they have every chance, Messi is just fucked off with the board played the same trick with Argentina. They will never be the same team from 2009 but they are still a damn good side stop kidding yourself no english team would want to face them

The environment around the club is poisonous at the moment. If Koeman somehow manages to turn that around (and he isn't precisely known for his man-management skills...) then maybe.

I feel like literally every single thing that’s happened in football this year has completely justified my decision to walk away .

Similar to a few years ago when there was a massive crisis when Neymar left and then they won the league with 93 points

You clearly didn't watch barcelona much in la liga last season, they were lucky to win quite a few games.

So were Real Madrid. It will be a new look Barca. Real Madrid are clearly favourites but they aren't so good that it's close to a certainty
