Ashley won't get it. From his statement, he doesn't think the team is as bad as it is. Probably reckons we're solid enough now, personnel-wise, that he can bring in a shitey PFM and we're good enough to stay up with minimal investment once again.

There's really not a lot of point in supporting us anymore anyway, but no Rafa will render the whole thing a waste of time, for me.

Based on that statement, the options can only really be Ancelotti, Pellegrini, Benitez or Wenger.

I'd err on the side or Pellegrini

Now SSN - West Ham will make an announcement in the next 7 days. He has a proven record in England and Europe. It's Rafa or Pellegrini.

Hopefully the latter, but it's NUFC so it'll be Rafa, bad going to worse...Not allowed to be happy..

Telegraph:

"Rafa Benitez would prefer to stay on as Newcastle United manager despite an attempt by West Ham to lure him to London.

Benitez remains keen to reach an agreement with Newcastle owner Mike Ashley about the size of his summer transfer budget.

He is also seeking reassurances from the sport shop billionaire that he will be able to spend the money when and how he wants, rather than have to wait for weeks for deals to be signed off, which was a cause of tension 12 months ago.

Despite his desire to remain in the North East, Benitez will not rule out leaving Newcastle as he is still waiting to hear a positive response from Ashley to his demands, despite weeks of talks with chief executive Lee Charnley."

I would like to reassure our supporters that we have left no stone unturned in selecting the individual we believe is the right man to take West Ham United forward.

“We have followed a process that is progressing entirely to plan and are now very close to reaching an agreement.

“This is an exciting time for our football club. We are preparing to appoint a manager who has a proven record of success at the highest level of the game.”

I mean, yeah.

That reads as if they're talking to someone (Pellegrini? Emery? LVG?). Unless the press know fuck all, surely it would've came out if they'd paid the clause and/or were speaking to Rafa?

That's a great point, the process would have had too happen way too fast for it to be Rafa, they have to approach Newcastle first and get permission to speak to him, even if it is a "release clause" and not a "confirmed compensation amount", he can't just talk to another club without the agreement to pay the fee be in place, that's clear tapping up.  That would be all over the press, Ashley would have ensured that happened to start managing the shit storm that would come his way. "They paid the fee, nothing we could do." . Bishop would absolutely want to be ahead of that situation.

Despite it looking rather bleak, I highly doubt Rafa would be anywhere near close to agreeing a deal with West Ham at this early stage tbh. His first choice is clearly to stay with us, but we look determined to f*** this up.

So what managers are realistically available who are similar to Rafa, e.g ex PL and European experience?

Fonseca, no.

Pellegrini, Yes?

Who else?

LVG and Pelegrini are all I can think of aside Rafa

Emery maybe?

Good shout, i'm also thinking random managers like Villas Boas, Hiddink, Marco Silva etc. Where's Mancini at?

Yep. Club would probably have released a statement and this would be too quick to be Rafa; he's one who is articulate and analyses everything, for him to be agreeing shit with West Ham 4 days after the season's end? It's not like him. Here I am convincing myself it's not Rafa. Fuck sake, hope.

Will probably be either Pellegrini, LVG, Ranieri or Emery.

Pellegrini basically the only one, if it isn't Ancelotti, which it won't be. It'll be Rafa.

Tapping up literally happens all the time. Agents can talk to whoever they want. All they have to do is get the nod.

Didn’t West Ham meet Pellegrini this wk?

I’d be seriously seriously surprised if a moral man like Rafa binned us for those cunts. That ridiculous statement from one of the porn brothers is nothing to be concerned about imo. Rafa knows what he’s doing here with Ashley, and I’d bet that he’s trying to twist Ashley’s arm.
