Rafa Benítez (now unemployed)

Recommended Posts

With us 19th, he’s the only manager I can see turning things around before January and then building the club up afterwards.

in my strong view we should just offer Everton £10m for him and see what happens

Did you consider that Rafa himself probably doesn't want to move from Liverpool now he's finally back where he considers home?

Not a chance Rafa leaves Everton 7 games in. We all know the man has integrity

Yes he''s a man of integrity but if we offered Everton a shitload of money. they couldn't refuse, the choice would be out of his hands and thus he could come with head held high.

How would that make him want to be based in Liverpool any less?

He's never stated he wants to stay there; he's done it once before and loved it. All Im saying is that with the decision taken out of his hands he might find the new project irresistible.

Not sure Rodgers would walk out either, and I don’t want Gerrard.

Rodgers walked out on Celtic, the club he claimed to support while on the brink of equaling 9 in a row and a historic treble treble. Not sure he’d come to us yet but he’s not shy on leaving a club

He moved to us so he could be closer to his family home in Liverpool. I mean he doesn't have to spell it out, we should be able to read between the lines.

Rodgers would 100% walk. He’s got the loyalty of Bruce but with actual coaching ability.

Yes he would. Just depends if he fancies us more than Leicester who are actually already knocking on CL places. The lure of being one of the biggest clubs in the world might tempt him I reckon.

I can't help thinking we need a manager of ability who can deal with a siege mentality and will embrace his position amongst the fans and the local area, but who that would be I'm really not sure. There's people that tick individual aspects of that criteria, but not sure if there's any that tick all three that are available.

Rafa's pals - Owen Brown and Frank Mcparland are Football Advisors to the Consortium. I'm sure if Rafa is in the running; perhaps not now but end of season.

I think more likely Rafa was in contact with Staveley during and after he left Newcastle and he's mentioned them as knowledgeable, trustworthy people.
