Takeover rumours. . .

We’re checking this one out with various sources, so stick with us but lots of intrigue arose last night after a quick search on Companies House revealed a new company has been set-up by Amanda Staveley.

Rumours that Mike Ashley could be close to selling Newcastle United have gathered steam after it was revealed that Amanda Staveley has set up a new company. Ms Staveley has been circling the club for months, but it looks as though a deal could soon be on the cards after the investor set up a company called Cantervale Limited. According to details on Companies House, Cantervale Limited is set up as a business specialising in “financial intermediation”, meaning it could be used as a holding account for Newcastle United. No official details about the use of the company or the sale of Newcastle United have been issued.

It's far too quiet following a pretty significant looking development, like. Not a single journalist commenting. Find it hard to believe that not one of them would have contacted the club to query it.

Even if they did query it, I doubt the club would be saying anything until they are ready to make an announcement. Unless it was bullshit and then they might deny it - which they haven't.

Contrary to reports over Christmas, we confirmed on Sunday takeover negotiations remained ongoing between Amanda Staveley and NUFC. Staveley setting up a new company that looks suspiciously like the holding company she used to buy Manchester City has sparked fresh talk that an announcement is imminent. Chris Waugh has spoken to Staveley’s people and we’ll have an update from that very soon.

But wilder social media talk of an announcement today or this week looks just that.

Premier League sources say the fit and proper person’s test hasn’t begun and until that happens, it’s difficult to see how there’d a grand announcement. This one will run and run....

Which journo will it be to start the dismissal? My money is on either Edwards or the grim Ryder.

Also, Wraith seems to be retweeting anything with a negative spin.

He's gonna be gutted if/when it actually happens, after his doom-mongering in December is (hopefully) proven wrong.

The man is a fucking clampit.

That page taught me that PCP used to be called PANTALAIMON CAPITAL PARTNERS LLP.

According to google, a pantalaimon is a fictional ferret like creature with red eyes.

WHAT DOES IT ALL MEAN!?

Pantalaimon: fictional character which takes on many forms. It’s true form is a Pine Martin, nature’s most adorable assassin.  ???

Why would

A. Staveleys apparent people tell Chris Waugh from the Chronicle that’s it’s imminent.

B. Why would the premier league tell them if the fit and proper persons test had started yet. If they started mouthing off to the press about every fit and proper persons test which may or may not get passed they would probably get sued.

Fit and proper test has the be done within 14 days of the FA receiving the declaration

Extract from the FA guide on the test

Under The FA’s Regulations a person wishing to become an Officer of a club must sign a

declaration confirming that they are not subject to a Disqualifying Condition and provide it

to The FA for consideration. Within 14 days of receiving a Declaration The FA is required to

provide its written consent to the Club before that person may act as an Officer of the club.

A copy of the Declaration can be obtained on request by emailing [email protected] .

Exactly. If an NDA has been signed, neither side can speak about it... but random Journo's can contact the Premier League who will divulge whether or not the F&P tests are underway, thus negating (to a degree) the NDA??

I'll stay in the optimistic (if slightly cautious) camp, following yesterday/last nights posts.

Cantervale is a music and food festival in Canterbury arranged by Canterbury boys highschool or something like that. Can't see any relevance in that though.

There it is:

http://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/amanda-staveley-sets-up-new-14106830.amp?__twitter_impression=true

On Tuesday, Staveley registered a new company - Cantervale Ltd - but sources close to the businesswoman stress this is unrelated to her interest in Newcastle.

Staveley, like other entrepreneurs who hold a variety of business interests, establish companies on a regular basis - and sources suggest that Cantervale Ltd is not a holding company created in anticipation of a takeover of the Magpies.

If it is "within 14 days of the declaration" (as said above) and this announcement/declaration is made on the 6th January (as it is being suggested it may be) then add on the 14 days from the 6th and you get to Rafa's mentioned date of 20th January.

It all fits !!!
