Various: Mike Ashley in talks with Sheikh Khaled bin Zayed Al Nehayan

Recommended Posts

Sub 300m up front, 300m over installments but has to get deal done quickly (for Jan window) that will help club invest in players and finish higher up the table etc. The risk/reward for Ashley is he can take a nice number now, or take 300m (+/-) later over installments.

His lawyer said they'd be willing to take installments to get a deal done - assuming these contingencies are and will cause him heartburn.

We need a song for Amanda really. How about 10cc’s “I’m Mandy, fly me”?

People seem remarkably sure that increasing the the bid to 'meet in the middle' would be fairly easy. We're supposedly talking fifty million pounds.

 Exactly. No chance it's just a case of meeting in the middle. It will be altering the terms (probably around guaranteeing some of the future sums to mitigate the risk to MA) that does it.

These buyers wouldn't just increase a bid by circa 20%.

If it's gone this far, it can go all the way.

He must know in the back of his mind that he has to sell now though, it's going to be worth shit all if he holds on to it and he knows it. Who blinks first?

He thinks he knows best about everything. It'd be just like him to 'chance' it.

The fact that the rest of the world know it will go tits would not preclude him from getting it wrong. It's what he does.

Can't see Ashley budge much at all, whatever his asking price might be. Stubborn motherfucker!

He employs workers for less than minimum wage and makes female staff give birth in the bogs  he will be a right cunt to negotiate woth

He’ll not risk it. He knows this is the buyer, the rest were just browsing. They want it, he wants out and really it’s just about the price. He won’t gamble with relegation or losing Rafa as he’ll get nowhere near what is already on the table. Even his advisors will be telling him don’t push it too far if you really want rid as this is it, this is the exit door.

It’ll go like this. No one else will make an offer, they’ll come back with a counter, Ashley asks for a little more and both walk away thinking they’ve got the right deal. It’ll be around 330 to 340, which for Ashley is an incredible amount of personal wealth to have and he’s done well out of us.

I can see a bid being accepted by the end of the month, that gives both parties a month to wrap up before the window opens, and is untimely what both parties want in the end of the day.

I'm not so sure he will know. For all his strengths as a businessman (stubborn, greedy, a cunt), intelligence and humility aren't amongst them.
