City being rubbish is as much a key to this. They’ve bottled it. Nah Pep has made stupid decisions. Benching Sterling means as Disco pointed out they can push forward knowing they can't be punished and playing 3 CBs also plays right into what's working for Liverpool. I can pretty much guarantee if they stuck to the usual 433 with two wingers either side of Jesus this wouldn't be happening, but as is usual with every big game fuck up in his career Guardiola has overthought the match up. Reminds me of when he started changing Barca from 433 to 442 with 4 central midfielders and it just didn't work as well in big games. No idea why he doesn't just trust his usual plan. It's because and he's admitted this publicly so i'm not making it up, he's scared of his team being too easy to predict so tends to adapt the gameplan to make it harder to plan for. It's why he bought Ibra at Barca, funny thing is usually when he does this it ends up fucking the team up. Obviously he's a fantastic manager but everyone has flaws and this is his. But in the final against Real, Bayern or Barca they will lose imo. Could beat any over 2 legs. Assuming they both go through I would like Liverpool vs Real.
