Not to focus on even a hint of negativity after a night like this but........in the post match, Eddie said he knows nothing about Dubs leaving and would need to speak to Paul. But then he is asked is there any chance he could stay and be offered a new contract and then says "that would be my wish".

God I hope this isn't another power struggle and potential distraction/derailment of the current on field success. Something as simple as having to throw in Vlachadimos or whatever his name is now, when our defence is nice and settled currently or god forbid if we get to the final again and Pope isn't available for whatever reason.

Not to mention the long term effects of another Howe vs Mitchell public fall out.

The problem is, cashing in on this older squad players is exactly what we have needed to do for ages so in theory Mitchell is right to flog Dubs now if we get anything decent for him as a fee. So I hope Eddie doesn't kick up too much of a fuss, but you have to think a replacement for him is essential to avoid disruption on the pitch.

Howe definitely has a blind/stubborn spot in terms of squad recycling to deal with PSR. He didn't want Wood to go either even thought it basically meant we could do the Gordon deal. I get it but we have to also work bigger picture.

Not sure a nominal fee makes any sense at this point. We’re charging up the table, and within a leg away from Wembley with our current first choice injured.

Fuckin love BDB waiting for him and putting his arm around him there. There’s quality leadership amongst a fair few of our squad now. Really enjoying this.

Do you reckon that's why he was bubbling, cos Eddie wants him to stay but it's simply not possible

He knows he'll never pull the shirt on again tbh.

To be completely fair he's been really really good since he came in for Pope a month or 2 ago. I had my doubts based on his performances last season but he's barely put a foot wrong in the last 7 or 8 games he's played. He's been protected a lot form the 10 in front of him but he's still done the routine stuff really well. He's moving on and it'll hopefully be a bit of a boost to the finances but he's earned it, fair play

We should have made a difficult choice in the summer and tried to move on Pope. His value is only decreasing and we've seen how important having a goal keeper who doesn't panic when the ball is at his feet is.

We simply can't allow players to run down contracts and leave on a free. We have to sell players and preferably ones who are replaceable.

I feel like we're all getting a little over the top about Dubs. It'll be sad to see him go but it's his time, if not for these last few games he'd have probably left this month anyway and no one would've cared much at all.

Now obviously if he leaves we need another keeper in, so if we can't do that then he needs to stay but if a replacement is lined up then I'm all for it. He's a decent keeper but there's better out there.

Just look at where Forrest are ffs, and they've got Sels in net, this run isn't all down to him. We made 4th with Pope for a whole season, we will be fine without him.

Overall he had a decent game, but he flapped horribly at a couple of set pieces.

Great servant and wish him luck moving forward. It's a move that makes sense for all parties, providing Pope is fit and/or Trafford comes in.

I’ve not been his biggest admirer and I honestly wanted him to bore off after the manuer thing. But he has been pretty alright since Pope has been out, and honestly been better than Pope this season.
