To be fair I couldn't give a fuck what you think. I usually ignore your opinions

Bruno's shite display today has got to you hasn't it?  "Oh no, Rod just might be right".  ;)

He may not be better than Pope but at least he isn't as bad as Pope with the ball at his feet. This alone is a major a liability relying on Pope.

Pope is probably in his final days. Can't see him lasting until next season. Just play Dubs.

I feel like we've just created this narrative where Dubravka is better than he actually is because he was in the team when we got some wins.

Neither is the long-term solution but Pope is the better keeper.

Sadly he didn't show it against Forest. Probably just very rusty. I don't think he's been particularly good for ages though, and his kicking gets worse.

I know I'm his biggest fan but it was extremely harsh to drop him!

unfortunately Howe has painted himself in a corner now, I think.

there was a moment in the second half where Burn (I think) hesitated playing back to the keeper, and it got us in trouble. highlighting the most glaring issue of having Pope in nets.

I really can't be arsed with either of them, they aren't good enough, and we will rightfully be upgrading the position in the Summer.

I'd prefer Dubravka in for games where we should be looking to control the match. Pope's absolute fear of the football really does cause us all sorts of problems.

I'm not even convinced that he's that much better a shot stopper these days, at least not to the extent that it offsets his kicking like it did a couple of seasons ago. Not sure what the goalkeeping equivalent is of losing a yard of pace, but that's how it feels to me this season.

Agree on your underlying point but think people are being very harsh on Pope due to some weird narrative change. He’s been a very good goalkeeper for us.

100% we need a new keeper but think dropping Dubs was ridiculous - if he’d made howlers then yes but he hasn’t!

we've evolved as a team, and unfortunately it looks like he's gone backwards as a goalkeeper. the Pope that played in the San Siro would have stopped that first goal yesterday.

we're just asking a lot more from our GK these days. you can see it clearly, you can feel it when you're in the ground. everybody (including our own players ffs) is shit scared when the ball goes back to him. he can barely do the basics, which is remarkable considering he's probably kicked a ball every day of his life for about 20 years

agreed. there's no going back now though, it was a clear statement from Eddie that Pope is our #1

Is it really ‘dropping’ him, though? The number one getting back in the starting lineup. After the number 2 put in a pretty crap display the game before in a 4-0 loss?

Pope was our number one and rightfully so. He came in and showed he was by far the better keeper. Then when he was injured last season. Dubravka came in and had a mare a lot of the while, conceding goals he was massively at fault for.  whilst also being scapegoated at times.

This season, Pope has looked a bit iffy at times and has been at fault for goals, for sure. Dubravka came in and was good with his feet and was part of that great run. Much improved on last season. But he was also similarly ropey in some moments in amongst some top saves. Without being tested too often.

I’m not really seeing it as clear cut and black and white as some others for who should be playing. Both have their weaknesses and it is one of a few positions I think we’ll look to upgrade in the summer.

But I still think Pope is the number one and the superior keeper. Even if his form/levels have dropped off this season.

I know it is pretty much unheard of in football. But is there a chance that Howe might actually play Dubravka in games against teams where we are expected to win. But that also press higher up the pitch, meaning we might need that extra ball player at the back?

I’m not sure I can remember teams using 2 keepers in that way. But then there are also massive differences to their games and how they play.

Howe sort of alluded to this in his post-match comments. But he was probably just being polite and giving them both a bit of praise.

maybe he just thinks Pope will be a better option for the cup final, where we'll have a lot less of the ball, so he's getting him up to match speed.

he's a much better option for penalties, too.

Is it still Eddie the soft touch who doesn't upset anyone or is it Eddie the cunt for dropping a player who he doesn't see as fit to do the job he wants as manager

I can't keep up anymore

Benefit of the doubt is that goal was rustiness. Because it was Dubravka bad.

Im not sure what level Pope is at. I’m a big fan.  But he’s not making the saves he used too.  His throwing is great. Ur his passing is wow bad. I don’t want to see him and Burn in the same team.

Yeah. I thought he totally lost his bearings after the unexpected turnover. Went back to his goal without seeming to check his posts. Which meant he was massively over to the wrong side.

In fact he was so far over. It was like he was defending one of the practice goals they have up during the warm up
