"Cattermole is keen to leave the club after a difficult few seasons for both club and player, but with the 30-year-old previously signing a deal which could see him stay until 2021 - a contract agreed with then CEO Margaret Bryne - it may be a more difficult situation than the Rodwell one, due to the former Manchester City man only have one-year remaining on his deal.

With the player and his agent - who, coincidentally, is Margaret Byrne - keen on getting every penny he is entitled to over the length of his contract, discussions that will see the player leave the Stadium of Light may be slow-going."

How the hell did the nonce harbourer get away with that?!

Er... isn't this a huge conflict of interests? Like, how much money did she pay herself in agent fees for this new contract?

It seems even their resident financial analyst who, before the thread linked above was highly respected on there due to his ability to dumb down accounts for them, isn’t safe from their wrath should he even demonstrate one iota of scepticism about The Don.

Looks like their first attempt at signing a player has gone pair shaped. Lost out to Peterborough

stood aside man

The Don has tweeted saying they weren't interested despite it being widely reported they were before he went to Peterborough

He's learning quickly

A couple of well placed fake twitter accounts could send him over the edge before they've even kicked a ball. He reacts to everything.

They may not have a physio, but atleast they no longer have pink seats.

Seriously though for the cost of replacing them seats, they will have been able to keep them on.

Someone needs to register on RTG as MackemInPeace, that will blow their mind

My good friend knows The Don well and raves about him and thinks he’ll turn them around, but all I see is a complete chancer way out of his depth in every sense, especially financially, who will be in for a shock soon as will the mackems who hang on his every word when they too wake up to reality.

Again, I predict they won’t even make the playoffs and I can see crowds as low as 10k come the end of the year/season.

“The financial implications of where this club has been means we have to operate differently now,

“We’re shopping in a different supermarket. We’re not shopping in Harrods any more.”

“I’ve had agents ring me up putting the names of good players to me but once they’ve told me what sort of money these players would be looking for I’ve had to stop the conversation because we’re not going anywhere near that,” he said.

That a League One player should be out of the financial reach of a top-half Serie A club even after his pay was cut by 40 per cent last summer gives an indication of what generous payers Sunderland (and the Premier League as a whole) have been. Dijon have ruled out making centre-back Papy Djilobodji’s season-loan loan permanent because the Black Cats were paying two thirds of his £32,000 wages last season, while World Cup-bound playmaker Wahbi Khazri’s £37,000 weekly remuneration is thought to have stopped Rennes exercising a £6m option to make his loan permanent.

Bleak outlook.

So that Martin Bain character just blatantly lied when he claimed they weren’t paying any part of the wages of the players out on loan last season. Well who’d of though...

would say one thing amid the laughter and confusion of their current predicament - if you were them you'd want a good chunk of their incoming business done before presesaon start in about a month or whatever...it'll be important to have their squad in and settled as best possible if they have a chance of getting out of the league first time

i think this is what they'll struggle with the most especially if they're having to bin their high earners before being able to bring much in to replace
