Whatever your feelings for joey in regards to us, you can't deny he clocked on early doors what a bunch of absolute cunts these are, and treats them as such at every opportunity.

He was quite happy to sign a new contract under Ashley & Llambias in 2011. Only problem was that we wouldn't give him the length of contract he wanted and QPR did. He also done us for £300k just to sign for us in the first place.

Pandering is so easy like. Plenty will allow it to influence their opinion on his time here, where he didn't do a great deal beyond crossing it in for one of the best players in the the air that I've ever seen at Newcastle. Admittedly that doesn't include his impact off the field, which might have been substantial.

Will always appeal to a section of fans in the way vinny jones did at Leeds and Wimbledon.

Pretty much 50/50 with him for me. He was pretty hit and miss for Joey here and not hugely dissimilar to shelvey although if much rather the latter every day of the week. He didn't do himself and ergo the club any favours too often on and off the pitch but when he was on he was a game changer imo. We were usually a better side with him in it as like Shelvey he had an eye for a pass and influenced our game.

Given his background he has come far and that's a credit to his determination. Like Jones or savage he is a heart on the sleeve character that like savage talks far more than he should. More than the robbie there is method to his madness more than not.

He was a very good player for us in his last couple of seasons, as above was a game changer and we were a lot better when he played. He also showed a lot of commitment on and off the pitch in that time when he sorted his attitude out, was part of that real likeable set of lads under Hughton IMO.

Since he’s left he’s been nothing but suppprtive and complementary of us and loves to wind up the Mackems, he’s decent for me.

Not even that imo. Maybe half to three quarters of 10/11, beyond that he did fuck all on the pitch.

Yeah I was going to say half a good season but he helped us fight back well in the 4-4 game.

He was helped massively having peak Carroll on the end of crosses

This.

Never understood the love for Barton. The warning signs were there from the start with transfer fee wrangle.

Barton was a terrible signing and a pretty poor player for us and in general as a footballer during his career. Good luck to him in management, but please do not try and curry favour with Toon fans given you did very little for us and only become this ‘character’ at the club because you didn’t leave after relegation and had a few good notable games or played in a few notable wins. That and you were outspoken about the ownership and seemed a key figure in the dressing room. He joins a long list of shit players who did fuck all for us in the main to justify any kind of fond memory/memories.
