Good for him. I'd do the same if I was in his position.

Yeah I can understand it from his position.

From my position as a fan I want to see better players coming in, and PSR means we have to sell players like Longstaff so we can fund it.

I gave the same reason for being disappointed Miggy turned down the £25m move to Saudi. Totally get that he was waiting for a move somewhere else, but as a fan I was disappointed because it's cost us getting a replacement.

Thing is, he's going to hang around for another year, barely play and then get released on a free meaning his career takes a dip and his hometown club gets fuck all money to help build for the future.  Everyone loses, awesome.

You say he'll barely play but:

1. He's one injury away from playing regularly and his competitors for the position are a constantly injured Willock and an 18 year old. We're going through a good run right now but one injury to Tonali, Bruno or Joelinton and his minutes massively increase.

2. We will probably have European football next season and realistically be looking at at least 8-10 more games that he will play a part in.

3. There's still a chance he regains form and becomes an important player again - which he's shown he has done before.

It was definitely frustrating as a fan with Miggy, no doubt. It was still proper odd though that some people on here were giving him grief for not wanting to uproot his family and move them to Saudi Arabia of all places just so that the team they support could have a bit more money to spend [emoji38]

Nothing odd about it. I'd rather have a better player as a Newcastle fan and £25m would have gone a long way towards that. He'd have been getting paid to play football in Saudi Arabia, same as Ronaldo and Neymar, it's not like he'd have been getting chucked in a cell and being hung upside down getting his soles beat with a baton. That said, I can totally respect his decision to stay here if he didn't want to move. He has to look at what's best for him, just as I have the right to look at what's better for us as a club.

No disrespect to Sean, but if our scouts can't find a better player than this current form version of him, with the money we would get for selling him, then they aren't fit for purpose.

Now ofcourse there is always a chance if he got a run of games he could return to the form that saw him be a mainstay in a side challenging for top 4 a few years ago. But I think the team has moved on from that and seems something has changed in that Howe has started bringing on Miley ahead of him now and starting Willock if fit.

And we'd possibly still have Elliot Anderson, be in a better position to sell Longstaff, and not have to (seemingly) pay £20m for a goalkeeper who can't make our subs bench. Maybe even have had less boardroom strife. It's not a mystery why it was a pity...

You've misunderstood my post. You admitted yourself that it was his decision (which you respect) whether to move or not. What was odd was our own fans slagging him off for making that decision in the best interests of his family.

Don't agree with anyone slagging him off mind, never really saw much of it, but then I don't really take much notice of social media.
