joeyt
Remember that interview with Schar at Brammall Lane when he was absolutely raging at Bruce. I don't think I realised at the time how bad Sheff Utd were: Last-place Sheffield United ended the longest winless run to start a Premier League season No team in the history of the Premier League, whose inaugural season was in 1992, had failed to win any of its first 17 games Then Steve Bruce comes to town

Amazing that 6 of those are still contracted by us And Darlow is arguably better than 3 of the GKs we have on our books. Howe

David Edgar
I have so much respect for Schar. He would've had a horrible time sat on the bench whilst a poor central midfielder took his place under that odious spam tin of a manager. It takes real determination to see that through and then pick yourself up to perform at the level he has these last few years. Ironically, it might've contributed to making him an even better footballer. You can learn a lot when everything is against you.
Checko
Good news. Assuming Wilson leaves this summer, I don't think we could have easily absorbed the hit to our Handsomeness Quotient if Schär left in the same window. Edited April 4 by Checko I did an umlaut! Kanj
Not sure there’s a better CB we’ve had in the PL era. His durability, all around defending, his passing and attacking play. He’s so insanely underrated by the media it’s not even funny. maybe it’s just my age talking these days, but I find it very difficult to imagine our next era without some of these guys who’ve been with us over the last years. 7 for Fab feels longer in my head! Better players - basically Woodgate or peak Colo - but none who have made the same impression as Fab for so long, not even close now. Only Howey and Albert can run him close for being mainstays of the 94-97 team.
