The MLS clubs are trying to get away from that. It would usually occur in the middle of their season, as well as their domestic cups, they also do their Leagues Cup games between Mexican teams, and some teams play in their version of the Champions League. It also dismisses their reputation at this point, and I think host venues are preferring having ties between European clubs played there instead. So fucking sad what this game has come to. No criticism of people who accept PSR for what it is and see moves like this as the price of progress btw; my criticism is of the regulators only, and the leagues that have sleepwalked into this position. He'll be a hell of a half time hero some day If those regs weren’t in place Almiron would’ve been out the door in 2022 tbf
Mike Posted Saturday at 13:44 Share Posted Saturday at 13:44 Love Miggy, Wish he'd been used as a 65th minute energy sub more. Glad he's going somewhere he's loved. Great player, great time here.

He's the epitome of a useful and completely professional squad player imo and would have been seen as such. This narrative of him being utterly worthless and not deserving of a place at NUFC has developed alongside people's rush to get on board with PSR if that's what it takes to be a Big Club imo. He can be frustrating, aye, but so can Anthony Gordon Edited Saturday at 13:51 by OpenC

OpenC Posted Saturday at 14:01 Share Posted Saturday at 14:01 Yeah I'm just saying that miggy's apparent fall from grace coincides with that sort of thinking imo. It's changing us as a fan base, I think.

That’s not a criticism of the lad, I just don’t think he’d have been around for long if NUFC had no restrictions on spending.
OpenC Posted Saturday at 14:12 Share Posted Saturday at 14:12 I guess what I'm saying is that it looks to me like the desire to be a Big and Significant Club is changing the way our supporters think. I feel like the fans last time we were good, 20+ years ago, wouldn't have been as intolerant of a player like Almiron's perceived shortcomings as we are now, and wouldn't have been so desperate for him to be moved on. Evidence to your point, players like Andy Griffin, O’Brian, Hughes, and Dabizas all played for us in defence when we were last decent under SBR. Not one of them would be accepted now. In reality, our defence was fucking shit, but because we were doing so well, they were tolerated. We also had other players like Acuna, Cort, Shola etc all in the squad.
