Paraguay winger Miguel Almiron, 30, is in advanced talks to leave Newcastle for an unnamed Saudi Pro League club. (Football Insider)

I’ll be sad to see him leave, I know his end product lacked, but his work rate and attitude didn’t.

23 goals and 6(!) assists for a winger in five and a half Premier league seasons tells the story.

Love him as a person but as a player he's just not good enough if we want to be challenging.

That purple patch really skews that, too.

It's more the drop off from the Purple patch to the norm...

I know confidence is a massive thing in football and he must have felt amazing during that period but surely he must know the only way for that to continue was to repeat the process.

I can't remember him cutting in from 30 yards out and shooting last season.. more running as far as he could then passing back.

Maybe his injury was part of the mental process and he was scared to fully use his pace.

I think the miss in the champions league I forget who it was against? Maybe psg away or Milan at home where he scores if he uses his right foot started his downfall as not been good enough.

Who are Football Insider and do they have any sort of track record for breaking news?

You'd think he could get a game somewhere decent if he didn't want to go to Saudi.

Not where they would pay us any sort of significant transfer fee.

Miggy derserves some more respect on his name

Played 209 games for us - was here in the bad times and in the good , been fit 95% of the time since joining- doesn’t hide and take weeks and weeks out

Probably needs to be upgraded now but has been important at times and even if he isn’t sold would do a job as 2/3rd choice

3 goals. There is no other starting replacement that transforms the squad as much. Love the guy and loved ASM too.

I respect him but would still like him to leave, people are saying keep tripps, keep miggy then they’ll complain that we don’t buy new. If we don’t improve then then we’ll keep treading water in terms of league positions.  To move on to the next level we need to start getting ruthless.

This. Appreciate they’ve been great servants but look how hard nosed Ferguson was with Ince, Kanchelskis, Stam, Keane etc. and he didn’t have his balls in a vice with PSR.
