Playing. As he’s a DM maybe he didn’t see him fitting in. He’s not better or worse than Longy though. He had a knee injury and then had to have it cleaned up as there were still bits of cartilage floating around in there, seemed to have knocked his career for 6.

Come on. We’re a club trying to qualify for Europe.

Yeah, I didn't see the logic of leaving Hayden out of the squad in favor of a 5th keeper.  Even if he's basically crap, you'd think a backup DM would be more useful and there are times when you might have him on the bench depending on injuries and suspensions.  Whereas there is truly no point in carrying 5 keepers on the 25-man squad.

probably would have to pay him for being in the matchday squad

Miguel Almiron is set to bring his Newcastle nightmare to an end after an ex- Premier League winner confirmed talks for the winger.

The Paraguayan’s opportunities have dried up at St James’ Park this season. He has made just one Premier League start this season and has just 18 months remaining on his deal.

Newcastle have been trying to move on the 30-year-old in order to make space in their squad. And it now appears that a deal has been struck.

According to The Sun 😁 MLS side Charlotte FC have agreed a £16m deal for Almiron. The Paraguayan was linked with the club in the summer but saw a move collapse.

Former Premier League winner, Christian Fuchs , who is an assistant to Dean Smith with the American side, has already confirmed ongoing discussions. As quoted by Sky Sports, he said: “He’s a great player but I don’t really want to talk about him as he hasn’t signed yet.

“There are always a lot of names being associated with Charlotte FC and all I know is that once it is signed, Almiron will be a great addition to our club and I would really look forward to him joining us and playing for us.

“We are very ambitious, coming up into our fourth year and it has been a steady progression within the club, within the MLS and we are really looking forward to getting going again. We are coming back on January 12th, going into pre season, and it is going to be a great season ahead.”

Almiron joined Newcastle from Atlanta United in 2019 for a then club record £21m. He has since made 219 appearances in all competitions, scoring 30 goals.

I think that's the total package of fee and wages

Didnt we turn down an offer of around 6m (wich was Charlotte FC max) in the summer? A lot of wages if so..

If we get that much back in our coffers I'll be the first one to request a Miggy Appreciation Day.

I know the lad is officially frozen out, a bit shit, and not getting any younger, but he was a significant part of the team that qualified for the CL not that long ago. I don't think the numbers being talked about are crazy. Relatively speaking.

The Athletic said he failed to agree personal terms in the summer, which sounds more likely than it being the transfer fee.

16m sounds more like the total outlay for Charlotte including wages, don’t they tend to describe deals in those terms in American sports? That probably ends up being something like £10m in Miggys pocket over his 3/4 year contract and £6m to the club as a transfer fee

will always remember him hammering in our first CL goal for 20 years to put us on our way to smashing PSG. Deserves a decent send off for that alone really.

Not to mention his enormous contribution to putting us there in the first place.
