Mike Ashley (former owner) (still alive)

Caulkin is the only journalist who can come out of this with his head held high.

He`s the best around in my opinion, I love his writing & he seems a really decent guy but if he`s holding back, I would really like to know why.

Old advertising boards being replaced by more up to date LED signage. Lots of seats being replaced and the stadium getting a good clean up. Costing Ashley a few quid but well overdue.

Costing Ashley nothing

It's not being done for free.

Implication being that the new owners are footing the cost.

only question is why? what would be the point of them doing it in such a hurry? sure there's some easy PR but they could do that over the summer its not as if the new season is next week or next month

They'll want to do photo ops in the ground with out all that SD tat in the background.

Maybe we chose to spend a few thousand pounds of our almost £200m revenue on making the place look slightly less of a tip?  For most clubs it is just a petty cost, you can tell we're conditioned to this joy-killing skinflint the way people carry on about costs.

Would have thought that was obvious from Ashley's history where fans complained about the public toilets being manky for ages.

If they are changing them to electronic boards it would be something that has been planned and budgeted well in advance. Why would they put a stop to it just because someone is potentially buying the club?

It's not like Ashley would be paying for it personally either. It's the club's money whoever the owner is

If they're leasing the space to an agency, it will be an extra source of revenue regardless of who owns the club. Ashleys only cost would be to remove the existing signs to prepare for electronic ones.

Of course, its also possible that Ashley has paid for them & contracted NUFC for their use over a elongated period for buttons (Thus securing exposure for SD whenever he wants whilst simultaneously robbing the club of a valuable source of revenue - See Rangers).

Alternatively, he might be fucking off for good & taking his shit with him
