Mike Ashley (former owner) (still alive)

All the people who hate / don't agree with the fans who go. I would ask what do YOU do to get Ashley out of the club? If the answer is attend protest's, involved in organising/helping protest groups, give up my season ticket, don't shop at sports direct then I respect your opinion. If the answer is nothing then you are just as bad.

Think most fans who have a go will have given up their season tickets.

Doesn’t stop it making more sense than Kim’s mate or Hearn being involved. Who knows, there’s got to be a good chance that this will just peter out like BZG.

Old news this from the Gazette, it was in the press about a week and a half ago, says just how shite their journo’s are publishing old articles, fucking desperate. Salford Uni is where this so called expert lectures, wonder who he supports?

Its not a question of hating the supporters of SDFC , more a case of enquiring about how low their IQs are ... all anyone needs to do is walk away , you don't  have to attend protests etc , you've already done the most important thing you can ever do

Might do, and who is mentioning Hearn based off a Twitter report don’t think anyone is putting much credence in that. It’s a known fact they got turned down for Man Utd and yet he conveniently fails to mention that. All reports (including the likes of Caulkin) are saying there is definitely talks, which contradicts what he is  putting across, but as everyone is also saying, Ashley has to be a willing seller. to make it happen.

Completely contradicts himself plenty of times, no one in the area knows of any involvement but then later on says it's no where near as far as has been reported according to their contacts in the middle East? Says they'd rather have Man u but then goes on to say they wouldn't invest in another countries football as they have their own they're proud of. Which is also a contradiction as there are confirmed attempts to buy Man u. Absolute drivel, knows fuck all, same as all the other reporters.

I enjoy him saying it wouldn't happen, but if it did happen it would be Man Utd, which would cost several billion and is loaded with debt.

Looked at his twitter, found this gem in which he says they wouldn't make money investing in a football club (they absolutely would if they grew a club into a commercial success like Liverpool and Spurs), and that they would only invest in money spinners like...Uber, which lost $8+ billion last year. He also ends with saying this would only happen if there were real estate investments to be had, too, which is seemingly why the Reubens are involved

Maybe he's right, I don't personally think we'll be takenover, but his opinions have plenty of holes in them.

This the Saudis want something different or want to be the leader not follower is a mentality of most countries in that area. I use to live in Qatar and they always say we are not like the others all the time. The professor mentioning that as viable reason makes his argument pretty redundant.

I don't see a lot wrong with what he wrote tbh.

It all contradicts itself.

He says they won’t be interested in buying a club, and if they were then they should buy Man Utd. He then acknowledges that they tried to buy Man Utd but simply the club wasn’t/isn’t for sale.

He says they won’t get interested into sports, but they already are.

Everything he says is either contradicted by himself or the actions they are doing.

Yeah ok he might be an expert in Middle Eastern business, but right now we are at a turning point where Middle Eastern countries and companies/business people are trying to diverse away from oil. In order to do this, the long term plan is that their own countries have to be more hospitable/accommodating to the rest of the world. This is where sports washing comes into it.

The biggest problem is that he clearly shows publisher bias concerning Man Utd.

Chadwick makes a fair point re: buying a football club is usually just a way of losing vast amounts of £££ . Man U are obviously a more attractive prospect in regards of prestige and the amount Ashley squeezes out of us is spare change compared to the amounts of money MBS is used to dealing with . The only thing a sane person can cling to is that Caulkin says the bid is genuine but if we move to the idea that Staveley is full of shit and is hoodwinking George then the whole thing makes a bit more sense . Theres been a brief flurry of headlines followed by nothing . Im not holding my breath ...

It has already , hasn't it ?

As far as I am concerned, it's gone already.

Yup. Any good feeling I had about this is gone. Back to hoping his asset loses value vis relegation. Was nice to dream for a couple of weeks though.

Pretty certain nothing's happening any time soon. He'll sell it one day, maybe within 12 months, maybe 5 years. Hopefully we're, at the very least, half way through our time with Ashley (David Gold is 80, for instance, so there's no guarantee that our parasite will let up at retirement age). But it seems clear to me that the latest effort isn't going anywhere. There'd surely be more info at this point if a deal was actually progressing.

Has it?

Things could be going around quietly in the background and people could actually being keeping quiet about it.

With Kenyon, and to a lesser extent, BZG, it was all obviously fake and some sort of PR campaign where the story was what either party wanted, hence why it was in the paper all the time.
