Mike Ashley (former owner) (still alive)

Hope our new overlords ban Ryder and Edwards from reporting on us.

Harsh, How will we find out what "Nobby Solano" and Olivier Bernard think about us signing (insert player here they've never heard of).

I’m a lot less optimistic now after reading George Caulkin’s latest tweets. They are pretty measured and he sounds like he’d be surprised if the deal went through.

Guest godzilla

Caulkin needs to be the go-to person for news.

He's the only one who is not fawning over themselves to publish bullshit. He s dubious due to past dealing which is fair enough, but again he desn't really know what is happening so is doing the correct thing.

I actually think that we’ll end up with people at the airport all day and others outside the hotel.

Apparently there's people camping out with sleeping bags watching which planes land

They do that in general though, don’t they?

I’m thinking that if there was nothing bubbling away re: takeover we’d have heard something bout Rafa by now. The talks wouldn’t have went on this long

Looks like theres a private jet event happening at Newcastle airport

Must have been planned as a smokescreen so they could sneak in undetected

And I just thought that it was more or less done and that we just signed the new Dogba!

Whys Friday a big day? That Twitter account was fake. And the plane rumours are bollocks arent they?

Ramandan finishes on the 4th June and after that there are 3 days of celebration for Eid (nothing will get done here!) so this Friday could see something happen but I am on call with work so can't have a drink until week on Friday so if they want they can delay any anouncement for a week

:idiot2:

Aren’t you in New Zealand??

Sure am....time to go to bed.....wake up to the takeover news...…just do it

Aye, surely he would have come out with a personal statement that he's decided to leave if this was the case? Because no way would he accept these dragged out talks otherwise, which makes me believe that there's stuff going on behind the scenes.

I think it's good, if his contract was just fizzing out with nothing happening, he would have at least said his usual 'working with the cloob, talking to the cloob, balls in their court' carry on.

Probably declined to comment because he doesnt know nowt imo

He might not know much/anything more than we do, but I'm pretty certain he does know. Otherwise he would have said something about the contract talks and that its taking ages and blah blah stuff.

So this was all agreed in April and, for an undefined period of time, their 'fit and proper' test has been going on with the Premier League? No comment from the club or PL but that's not a bad thing - denial would be bad.

And this magical Friday coincides with several Dubai planes coming in and Ashley's return to the UK? Starting to accidentally get excited, knowing full well that Ashley has a history of randomly walking away from deals for no reason.

April? Huh?

It sounds like they signed the NDA in late 2018. Probably did some desktop due diligence up until we were declared safe by beating Leicester in mid April. They submitted their proof of funds which gained access to the data room, performed deep dive into the mystic “data room” and then probably within the last 1 or 2 weeks (my guess) they reached an agreement of terms on an official offer for the purchase of the club with MA and his attorneys. This document was then further signed by BZG and MA memorializing the terms of sale. That was then submitted to the PL probably sometime this week. The signed terms probably was the milestone that leaked to the Sun. Hence all of the media frenzy playing catch up. The owners and directors test or the “fit and proper” test likely hasn’t begun as the selling party has to submit that documentation to the PL and the buyer cooperates if anything is needed after the fact. I think there’s a 5-10 business day clock when all of that is submitted to get a final answer. MA and his team likely delayed sending anything early given his paranoia on this and it’s like the commercially reasonable thing to do - don’t submit change of control docs unless a deal is struck.

/The above is my best guess based on what I’ve read about the process and understanding of how deals get done.

The test could have already started a week or two ago if things are on delay reporting. So Friday could be significant, or not. Again clarity from MA would be nice.

Wouldn't it be coincidental that The Sun's reporter broke the news on Sunday in anticipation that the deal was about to be finalised on Friday? I don't know but just my guess that they could have released the story on any other date or day since the negotiations started way back in April but he was told of the deal and chose Sunday as perhaps the deal is getting nearer to being announced?
