Oregon_Geordie
Thought he tried to release the ball earlier today, play more for the team. But think he looks half arsed or in a sulk...Somethings not right! Weak for the built up to the goal but Wood hardly protects the ball either. Always looks to be reacting to a pass. Maybe try Jo back upfront now he has some belief. Atleast he can use his body to hold the ball up. Nothing sticks with Wood.

Yep, when he comes on lare in a game the rest of the team just desperately look to get the ball to him all the time and he just tries to win the match single handed. He's much more part of the team when he starts.
Wilson
Looked like he did for the few games after Bruce left. Not as direct or confident, seemed off the pace but he's msised a few games so probably expected. Hope the break does them all good, we need our best players firing when they come back. Rest up, focus, stay up. It's all that matters.

Lenny
I do think ASM's lack of discipline off the ball will hinder him under Howe. A good press only works if every player is applying it and if one player drops off then it actually completely opens you up. ASM doesn't do it. I would love nothing more than for him to be our star player as we head into a more exciting era, but he's actually got to do more otherwise he'll be out. He has the opportunity to be the front of something really positive, but he's got to work for it.
Wolfcastle
Plays bad more than he plays well I've always felt. Not having a go at him just at how massively over-rated he is by some people. Tonight was tricky because 10men is hard to judge against but we've played worse after he's come on these last two games not better as the conventional wisdom would assume. Though what options do we have? Edited March 17, 2022 by Wolfcastle
elbee909
It's not an attack on ASM especially but I'm fed up with the commentators going on about him being unpredictable. He's... just not that unpredictable, is he.
Thiago
Honestly, I thought Miggy was far more impactful than him tonight. I think he was much better suited to being the big fish that we ran everything through. He won't last long under Howe, which is sad because he's exciting, but he's not practical. In the last Everton game he looked like he’d reached another level.
PlymouthGeordie
Only one "top" team in the league allows their forward players to "cheat" and that is Man Utd; look at the state of them. City, Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea etc all have their forward players put in a real shift. If their forward players can't be carried then ours definitely can't. If ASM either can't or won't press from the front we should sell him. Under Bruce we could carry him because he carried us but that isn't the case anymore. Pre takeover he was probably bigger than the club but that has changed now. Against Brentford we got so much joy when they went down to 10 because we moved the ball quickly. He just refused to do that. Howe has a system and style that works and at the moment ASM is making us worse when he's on the pitch.

Jaqen
In theory he should be a great impact sub but he's pretty much always bobbins from the bench. Seems to be the one players not properly adapted to Howe's ways as well.

STM
It's becoming more and more apparent that ASM is unlikely to have a long term future at NUFC or indeed the career he wants if he can't play for the team. That means working for the team, playing passes at the right time and not sulking when things don't go his way. We aren't good enough to lose him yet but the situation will be different in 12 months time.

Dokko
Wonder if he’s fell foul of the new higher standards and just isn’t as committed now. He got away with murder under Bruce but we all knew that wasn’t going to be the case with Howe. Whatever it is I hope he can sort it.

Look at the style of football used to make him our best player. All 11 behind the ball, give him the ball and see if he can run the length of the pitch. He'd clearly outgrown us pre takeover but that is no longer the case. Our unbeaten run has been built on tactical discipline and work rate. He doesn't contribute on either front. Khalidao
The blame for the goal could be shared by multiple players. ASM is the least responsible IMO. Joelinton short pass was an invitation for an interception, ASM had to try and pass it back instead of trying to dribble. Then comes Dan Burn who easily let Iwobi get away and Schaer didn't track the run into the box. Dubravka had to do better saving that shot, it wasn't that difficult with better positioning.
