League Cup 2nd Round - Newcastle unsurprisingly knocked out by Leicester

Recommended Posts

6 Players

6.1 In all rounds of the Competition a player shall be a “registered player” of his Club, as defined in Rule 6.2 below.

6.2 A registered player is:

6.2.1 in the case of a League Club, one who would be registered and eligible to participate in a League Competition match commencing at the same time and on the same date as the Competition match in accordance with the provisions of League Regulations; and

6.2.2 in the case of a Premier League Club, one who would be registered and eligible to participate in a Premier League match commencing at the same time and on the same date as the Competition match in accordance with the Premier League Rules, or would have been but for the operation of Premier League Rule U.1.1 (Squad List).

6.3 Players registered on a temporary basis will not be eligible to play unless the Club holding his full registration gives its written consent (also subject to any restrictions on the number of loan players prescribed by applicable Premier League Rules or League Regulations).

6.4 No player shall play for more than one Club in the Cup Competition in any one Season.

6.5 Each Club shall play its full available strength in and during all Cup Competition matches, unless some satisfactory reason is given. The Board will from time to time issue a policy as to what constitutes 'full available strength'. In the event of the explanation not being deemed satisfactory the Management Committee shall have power to impose such penalties as they shall think fit. The provisions governing disciplinary matters in relation to the Competition are contained in Rule 24.

Is what I'm confused about. That implies only the registered 25, does it not?

Oh no, I'm dumb. That states they ignore the squad list rule.

Which makes the whole f***ing section about registered players pointless.

Just means they still have to be registered at the club with and The FA or else any one from any team would be eligible.

Brucie said he will play his strongest team and go for it.  Surely he wouldn't contradict himself????????

Injuries will play a part.

Rafa said exactly the same thing mind, he never got any shit for it did he?

In one thread, people are bemoaning the fact that Bruce started an injured player. In another they're bemoaning the fact that Bruce will not pick an injured player.

Love this place.

Where's the post bemoaning the fact that he won't pick an injured player?

In one thread people are bemoaning the fact Bruce started a known injured player playing with an injury that is widely known to get way worse if it isn't allowed to heal properly. It is also a result of old training methods and player follow up which wouldn't have happend under Rafa.

In another thread people are questioning the possibility that some injuries may be exaggerated by Bruce to save face with pundits and fans when we get dumped out of the cup due to playing a weakened team which was "out of his control".

Keep spouting your shite though.

The fact we don't have some big target man kid in the reserves to play is also a nightmare IMO. We go from having this dynamic big/quick/athletic main striker to a pacy second striker. Gayle, an out and out last man shoulder striker is hurt, AC is hurt....

We arent scoring with only muto up top.

Tough shit for Bruce then. When you have three out of your four strikers out injured, you should thank your lucky stars we've still got one to put on the pitch.

He got a load of shit for it after Watford humped us last season (soon forgotten when we beat Man City a few days later) and also when we got possed off Oxford.

why is the Everton v Lincoln City match on tv and not the all PL match?

Lincoln need the TV money a lot more than we do

Is that what dictates tv coverage for the cup?

Just assumed an all PL clash would garner most interest globally.

I'd guess if it was one of the top 6 teams it might be of interest but they aren't in this round.

I doubt Newcastle reserves vs Leicester reserves is going to be of much interest to anyone whereas a cup upset would be entertaining
