ToonArmy1892
Rooney was good but not great imo. Bit like Beckham, the media make them out to be better than they are.

He was in the world class category, but not the top of that for sure.
James
I just feel he falls under the ‘icon’ rather than ‘legend’ category, so he sits alongside the likes of Cantona and Schmeichel, and below Giggs, Scholes, Neville.

Throw Pele and Maradona in there and that is literally the 6 greatest players that ever lived. So no, Rooney isn't one of the greatest who ever lived, but he was undoubtedly great. He wasn't even a CF for us in the Ronaldo years.

Conjo
So much bullshit in here. From 2004 - 2014 Rooney was world class. One of the best English players of all time.

Decky
What defines great? Rooney was one of the top forwards in Europe for a decade. Won absolutely everything with his club, on a personal level he became the record goalscorer for his club and country. Is that not great?

He was our top scorer 5 years ago. Was still consistent hitting 15-20 a year despite moving deeper and deeper.
