Positive Optimism - Saudi Takeover Edition

Considering he can't even have a face to face meeting with the prospective new owners. I don't see why his current location is very relevant tbh, unless he is returning to empty his desk of course.

Guest Howaythetoon

I’d like to know where they got the dumpy bags from, we can’t get them for love nor money! My mate works high up for O’Briens, he says it’s just general waste stuff going in and no more typical than usual.

Aaaaaah but what type of waste.....the contents of charnleys desk perhaps?

Old desks, chairs, flooring, packaging etc.

Relaying the pitch?

How long does it take for a pitch to set?......or do they know there won’t be any home games in the next month.

The pitch lights are all locked away under The Leazes. The pitch can’t survive without them due to the lack of natural light. They’ve clearly ripped up the pitch as they know it won’t be played on again for the foreseeable.

The pitch survived for years before they got the pitch lights.

They will just be doing it to maximise the time they can have for the pitch to bed in. There clearly isn’t going to be any games at SJP anytime soon.

Even if the game in played behind closed doors and as a home game and not a neutral venue, it could quite possibly be played at the training ground.

Taking time away from the takeover......interesting to know this stiff, but if games do resume, say, June/July would the pitch be ready for home games...just out of interest

Yeah, quite possibly. The turn around for a new pitch is usually about 6 weeks in anyway. Assuming we have an early June start date then we have 5 weeks between then and now. If we say the 2nd week of June then we have 6 weeks. Both would easily be viable. It all depends on what they are doing. Are they taking the turf off and putting new turf on? That turnaround could be as little as a few days, although that wouldn’t be ideal, it has been done in the past though.

If it’s all the soil coming up and regrowing with seeds and such, then it would be more towards the 6 weeks mark.

We also don’t know when the next season may re-start. Assume it goes ahead in August or September, we then have a short time span for a new pitch to have time to bed in, so doing it now makes sense as we know right now we have gap that we can work with.

It cant be any of the Newcastle United staff cos they are all furloughed

Staff can be unfurloughed after 3 weeks, this time has now passed since the staff were furloughed. Pictures also show that the people working there were wearing NUFC tracksuits. You would also assume that if ground staff were furloughed, then they couldn’t have been in to cut the grass which needs to be cut on average of every 2 days.

Cheers for that.......FWIW I don’t think they’ll be any home games for the remainder of the season...if/when the season starts neutral grounds with limited staff for games...can you imagine a home game v Liverpool, under new stewardship, but no one allowed in the ground....they’d be hundreds outside the ground....not what you would want in a partial shutdown.

Sky wouldnt be happy if it was at the training ground as they have camera points mounted all over the stadium.  It would look shite.
