Takeover Thread - July 1st statement, Staveley letter to Tracey Crouch (and response) in OP

Didn’t Hicks and Gillette pull some similar stroke when selling Liverpool? They weren’t let back out of the deal though, no such luck for us though.

Not comparable, they were forced to sell to satisfy their creditors (RBS).

I'm ashamed that I took the information I received from Caulkin yesterday as a positive. I'm such a cunt. I should've known this was a pipe dream all along.

I'm done with this club and any takeovers until he's officially gone. I should've never let them back in my life.

Its all on the PL - corrupt to the core- bigger clubs didn't want this to happen  They are totally unaccountable can do what they want.

Them taking into consideration the opinions of the bigger PL clubs and Qatar was bang out of order. No way should any of their feelings have had any effect on this takeover.

It's same as FFP - football now just protects the big clubs its all against other clubs crashing the party.  I am certain if it was Man U that had the bid it would have been pushed through.

Mental that other clubs can have a say, of course they are going to object when you are talking millions for finishing one place lower in the league.

It speaks volumes as to who actually runs football.  I think it was clear it was never going to be approved but rather than it drag on they'll invest their money elsewhere.

Its so fucking deflating, but we should have expected it to be honest, fucking pantomime.

In amongst all of this, all the negative depression, the hopes dashed, this crappy months long saga...i'd just like to know what ACTUALLY happened. The itk insinuations was it ashley was it mot just someone effing tell us. Surely not that hard now the NDAs have gone. I suspect i'll be waiting a long time though.

I think MBS would have been the ultimate controlling party and the PL knew this.  Maybe MBS didnt fancy being put through the test.  All this talk of the PIF or the state being a director is BS really cos MBS woudl still be the controlling party.  I just don't think they would ever pass these tests if MBS didn't want to take part.

I think this is the most likely to be the reason.

Even if they approved it last week it’s still on them; taking far too long thus allowing Fat Mike to do his thing.

Aye, seems dodgy how Golfmag’s saying the PL we’re saying ‘oh, we were just about to approve it, honest’, just as they pull the plug. Doesn’t sit right, that.

 I knew there was something that locked them into the sale, couldn’t remember what though.

The idea that this test is some fucking super strict process to own a bloody football club is rotten to the core. A group of people in a club known as the PL board have successfully stalled the takeover and allowed a checked-out owner with no desire to better the club or city fuck and fuck over the fans. Other clubs in the league care more about their own personal gains of course than a revitalized newcastle untied, and those same clubs maybe had a hand in the stall tactics. i'm glad competition for them is more important than say, the city of newcastle getting a lift because of all of this.

The most annoying thing in all this is due to the amount of time I spent going over all this during furlough my specialist subject in mastermind is now failed NUFC takeovers 2009-2020.

Potential crumb of hope at the end statemented but don't understand why Amanda says they had to issue one??

Explaining the crux of the problem, she said: “The piracy issue was not an issue but we tried to resolve it anyway.“They [the Premier League] tried to make the state of Saudi a director. The PIF had agreed to become a director.“Do we give up now? I don’t know, there may be a way forward, but we have had to put a statement out.

it doesn't actually make any business sense. it doesn't make common sense. the league may have been telling the bidders this for ages (hence the positive tone to Caulkin) and then kept pushing this along as long and far as possible. but ultimately they never made a decision. if they did, if they passed them the bloody consortium would have said that TODAY

The Premier League couldn't legally reject the deal and they knew this. They simply sat back, allowed certain timescales to expire, and let Mike Ashley do their dirty work for them. They knew he wouldn't let them down.
