Starting to get nervous shakes at the prospect of no evening football past Weds. Until the Euros obviously and the couple of finals. But watching a match nearly every evening for however long has got me addicted to it. Already planned my week out.

Barnsley-Swansea tonight, Che-Lei and Bur-Liv obviously Tues and Weds. Then we start getting in to questionable territory. Thursday probably Anderlecht-Bruges over the Scottish PL Playoff. Blackpool-Oxford on Fri. Swans-Barnsley again Sat and Sevilla on Sunday.

Terrified of having to go back and watch whatever shit is on tv or netflix in the evenings. Ive grown a dependency.

Do you have the full complement of Sky/BT/accepting partner to make all this possible? I'll be in a new house by the time the new season rolls around and feel like I'd like to watch more than about six games, like I have done this time. But likewise I'm struggling with the idea of contributing to the wages of Graeme Souness and Rio Ferdinand.

I've got all 3 albeit I usually watch Amazon/BT games on my tablet as we have those legit whereas Sky is just my parents account so I part watch an unnecessary amount but I have to say I'm looking forward to it being on less if it means I'll need to find something else to watch.

No I just have the internet. Square. Not paying monthly subscriptions where the cost vastly outstrips the value I get from it.

I went to have an x-ray and see a consultant yesterday about a knee injury I've got (ACL playing footy, standard); I was planning to ask him at the end about an unrelated back/neck issue I keep having. I know they're pushed for time and you can't exactly reel off all your ailments, otherwise they'd never get through the queue of patients; but I thought, I might as well try my luck.

Anyway, he's wrapping up the knee discussion, and I'm thinking to myself, here we go, don't forget to mention me neck quickly... then he makes the error of uttering a very passing comment about how Paul Gascoigne and Michael Owen never reached the same standards again after their ACLs. Well obviously that was it, I'm ranting away about Michael fucking Owen, forgetting all about my neck and doubtless wasting his time. I could have gone on all day. I think the last thing the biddies in the waiting room heard as I was being escorted away by nurses was "... 102 grand a week!"

Was Wor Jackie a Mackem?

Like many of that era, he would go and watch them at home when we played away, same applies to many a mackem which is a new moniker, no ‘identity’ existed in the day, they called themselves Geordies FFS and still do on holiday in Benidorm when asked where they are from... while in full kit wanker dress.

My granda did that. Supported Newcastle but went to Roker Park when we were away.

Mine too and the mackems were out in force to cheer on our FA Cup winning teams at the railway station in the 50s.

The reason I asked was I was sent the program notes he used to write for SAFC. Got a similar impression things were more joined up back in the days. Honestly believe in a way segregation of fans has possibly caused more damage than it eradicated.

Happy to put up if it was easy to do via an iPhone?

Was at the Norwich match with the bairn for her first game and something came to me when I was thinking about my first game as a kid.

The flashes of cameras is a distant memory, but one which sticks in my head making night games feel special.

Means nothing, just realised that it is an image not to be seen again really.

Also, actual physical cameras on a night out in town, but that's for chat random thoughts thread.

Football hooligans are the most pathetic category of “hard men” going.

Most of them are “hold me back” types. Goading other fans while being separated by the police. Or look at Paris and Milan ultras. Milanese lookin for small groups of fans to stab with mechete’s  and that PSG fan punching a woman. Also none of our fans then trying to stick up for said woman.

Most only seem to fight when odds are stacked in their favour.

Grew up with a bunch and we never caused any problems, didn't hang around the street corners and stuff, quiet-ish really - soft as a group to be honest ,myself included, or at least non-confrontational but heard a few years later, ever more years after actual hooliganism was passe, they were running amock in Breda and thought it was sad as fuck on so many levels. (*and all glory hunters to a man)

Not hard to believe its much the same now.

Not that if they were hard I'd approve either but at least its not disingenuous or that type but that sort is as good as gone now.

The problem is

If anyone reacted and give the psg a dig back they'd then be branded a hooligan. Then add in the coppers standing filming the newcastle fans whilst the psg fans get free reign to do what they want

Players I’m mad about selling over the years. Sure everyone had their own personal reasons for going or contract issues but a lot of the players were not replaced adequately.

Ginola to Spurs

Ferdinand to Spurs

Solano to Villa

Solano to West Ham - Scored three-four goals there.

Parker to West Ham

N’Zogbia to Wigan

Milner to Villa

Hughes to Villa

Speed to Bolton

Bellamy to Celtic/Blackburn?

Jonathan Woodgate to Real Madrid. He was never replaced. Vaguely remember Freddie Shepherd saying some sort of bollocks along the lines of the fans would genuinely be surprised what we do with those transfer funds received. We ended up bluff bidding for Wayne Rooney.

You can add Steve Watson to Villa to that list too. Genuinely just seemed to be done out of spite. In a similar vein to Aaron Hughes, he could cover multiple positions, never let the team down and their replacements were pretty pish.
