Aye, he's not fooling anyone. They shamelessly claim it tracks activity levels and provides bedtime guidance. Couldn't be more brazen, two of their blog articles refer to fertility and contraception research. It's the equivalent of saying you use incognito mode for online shopping.

Still though, it's such a positive sign of how far we've come (;)) over the last year when a PIF-funded Prius-based Soup Kitchen is a much more palatable prospect than the Sports Direct equivalent.

One day I'll get used to all this professionalism.

Does this impact us?

Put simply, the Premier League have reacted specifically to our Takeover and are pushing through rule-change after rule change (this latest one is just one of them) in an attempt to put us in a financial straight-jacket in order to protect their six Premer Clubs.

It seems impossible for us to catch up now.

However - I do have a great deal of faith in our new owners, I always have had, and I do think they will find many ways to get around all these obstacles, and that they will guide us to the very top.

That will definitely happen, as they did not buy us to finish 2nd.

However, it will take longer than it would have if these "all new fiddles" had not been introduced.

P A T I E N C E is needed.

Why would the clubs outside of the top few vote for stuff like this?

Because most of them are happy fighting for 7th [especially now it can get you into the European Remedial Cup] and don't want to be priced out of that mini leaue.

Not every owners willing to spend their fortunes for the club they owned, imagine Ashley is still our owner, he’d definitely voted yes, it’s a great excuse for him to not spend a dime

Doesn’t matter to them, they didn’t have the backing to fully compete anyway. It’s in their better interest, short-term, that a very wealthy mid-table team (like ourselves) doesn’t  break through or is halted somewhat. Another big club just pushes every other team down a place, I guess.

We need to increase our revenue (and there is a lot of room for that, plenty of low hanging fruit) and we need to just be smart with recruitment. The owners have been clear they do want the club to be run sustainably in the long run in line with those rules. It's just annoying that all these reforms are fairly clearly trying to pull up drawbridge after them, rather than rules to cut down on ludicrous overspending like wage caps, caps on agent fees etc etc

Feels like they're cutting their noses to spite their face tbh.

If anything were to change in future, and their fortunes change somewhat, they will also be stuck where they are.

Can't imagine the likes of villa signing up to this either.

Also a similar reason to why we’d rather see Paqueta sign for Man City than West Ham. You’d rather keep those closest to you competitively at stasis; the top teams getting better doesn’t seem as much of a pressing concern.
