That's the boring financial benefit of results like Wednesday night. We are in the Champions League this season because we earned it, but results and performances like that show that we belong at that level. That gives brands confidence that we will keep operating at this sort of level (not necessarily CL football every season yet, but in time).

Absolutely, look at all the coverage that's happened post match. All forms of media have regurgitated the game from all angles and NUFC as a brand is in the ascendancy. It's a dream for any marketer or sales rep to have in growing revenue.

Pretty good article, by of all people Luke Edwards, evaluating 2 years of the new ownership here, with an interesting (and great!) little scoop on the commercial side of things:

don’t forget more “confirmation” on sela and adidas deals too…

A new shirt sponsor in Saudi Arabia events company, Sela, brings in £25 million a year, a huge increase on the previous deal with betting firm Fun88, which was worth less than £8 million a year.

The club have also dramatically improved the income from their shirt manufacturing deal, terminating their existing contract with Castore, to move to Adidas from the start of next season. The German company is going to pay around £40 million a year, which dwarfs the sums received from Castore.
