Wonder if this news is any indication of progress in this department. Different roles so perhaps not, but hope so.

Would have imagined more a ceo would come in to replace him and a DOF would be separate but I’m not entirely sure how it works.

CEO & DoF must be relatively close if they announced he's left. Unless it was pre-arranged he would leave after 6 weeks.

They’ve had discussions with Richard Scudamore about taking the Chief Exec role. Very clever, someone with the influence and standing to keep every other club in check.

He’s got some ongoing thing with Australian football though, not sure if that’s an issue or not.

Sounds like a very interesting choice of appointment. Just wondering how much of his experience managing a League will translate to managing a Club. Although I would imagine the pure football side of things will be helmed by DoF and/or Tech Director etc

His role as special adviser to the A-League clubs and head of league started some 2 years ago so if he was in a contract, it will not be unreasonable time to break contract, if any.

The more binding agreement may be "On his departure, the 59-year-old signed a comprehensive set of “non-compete clauses” that ensure he cannot join a rival organisation for three years." So is a Club in PL considered a rival organisation?

He left the PL in June of 2018 so any 3 year clause would have expired by now. edit: slight correction though it doesn't change anything - the announcement was in Junenbut the official retirement was mid-November 2018. Which would still mean they've expired.

A friend of a friend who does work with a capital equity firm who he also has close ties to, a worst kept secret type thing.

Their (the consortium’s) logic is quite sound though, he basically ran the premier league when it’s revenue was a few hundred million all the way to it making billions. Ideal for what they want to achieve for NUFC.

And also knows the rules of the league inside out as well.

Let’s hope they can convince him, or it’s a case of all the consortium being agreed, PIF could well have a Middle East heavy hitter they want for it as well. They seem prepared to put trust in Staveley and Jamie Rueben though which is promising.

It all seems to have gone quiet on the DOF/CEO front.

Good, will avoid an Emery situation unfolding in the media. Much prefer it's announced out of the blue and we're all pleasantly surprised.

Any updates on this?
