I'd take mourinho like.

Bit of discipline in the team and a system they can all understand.

Bit like what rafa done with us.

The one appointment that might actually make us worse and piss off a ton of players, depending on who he decides to scape goat when his awful football doesn't turn things around.

Pretty terrible today tbh.

I'm still backing him. I think we owe it to him to back him too, personally.

No, always been told your as good as your last job and unfortunately for managers that's the way it is results driven, can't see any positives hanging onto him for much longer.

He's available and wins a fair bit. He reminds me of rafa in his setups and systems.

Do we actually know that there aren't any proper replacements out there?

It's telling there have been no real exciting suggestions - in the press, on here, or elsewhere. There are no standout candidates that I can see in terms of anyone with serious pedigree who would represent real intent or ambition. That doesn't mean there aren't lesser known coaches who could be the next big thing in waiting - but this of course represents a greater risk.

I’m not having that personally. They’re rightly criticised for not strengthening in the summer, but this manager has basically had two new England international full backs (who’ve been a couple of our best players) and Tonali an Italian international starter introduced over the past few months. Two things can be true at the same time.

Expand

Howe has done a great job developing both of those fullbacks and improving them. They have become full internationals over the last 18 months since joining. Neither were signed as one and remain long term project players.

I think you can quite easily go and get another coach that might for example makes us more solid at the back but doesn't develop talent at the same level, or somebody else who gets us pinging the ball around expansively but conceding goals for fun. I may be wrong but I personally think whoever we get in is likely to have their own flaws and the real issue is that the squad has a glass ceiling of about 6th.

Like are people actually serious with Mourinho? I know the general footballing intelligence here is low but fuck me that would be catastrophic.

The people that are seriously calling for Mourinho would also be the first to want him out, ironic isn’t it

Funny how replies and comments in here would change in 90 seconds of 1-0 to 1-1.

That's obvious, surely? At 1-0 you've pinched an underserved win, but it's a win nonetheless. At 1-1, you've thrown away a win, and quite deservedly on the balance of play. It's easy to overlook the performance if you get a freak result, throwing it away like that is always going to shine a massive spotlight on the performance as a whole.

And he's done a good job here.

We're only 4 points off second and in another cup quarter final. Does that mean if we beat Liverpool he's the best thing since sliced bread again?

I think the owners will be getting twitchy and arguably, rightly so. But he deserves our support as supporters of NUFC.

I think the writing is on the wall now for Howe, and it sickens me to say that. The team doesn't look coached properly at all. Our set pieces are terrible, we don't seem to know how to move forward with any decent attacking threat which is evident by the lack of goals scored, plus players like Isak, Gordon and even Bruno just look totally off it. The only good performances I've seen this season are probably Spurs (H) and Forest (A), I know we beat Arsenal but it was more them being completely shite rather than us being good.

Zero shots against a side in the bottom three is probably one of the worst stats I can think of for us in recent years so it certainly seems like the problems are only getting worse. I genuinely don't know how Howe turns all this around. The warning signs were there last season and we put it down to injuries but this season we've had most of our players available and its been so bad. It pains me to say this because I genuinely like Howe and I'm desperate for him to be successful but knowing football you can spot the signs of a manager who has taken a team as far as he can and it certainly has the feel of that with Howe right now.
