He's right in that buying ready made guaranteed to get you goals Premier league goals is hard to come by and those with known form are a fortune. Issue is something needs to be done especially if the table stabilises and we aren't there to grab the opportunity. I still feel a creative right winger helps so much if they too feel comfortable playing across the front three or up top it's another variable/switch that can be made tactically bot not essential. Wilson or isak middle, gordan stays where he's proved to be most effective all those moving about and combinations haven't worked outside of a single game. Our front 3 are just not working while the cheapest option is to back what we have to hit form and put it right it's unlikely to happen based on how far into the season we are now and no one has hit their peak and kept it. Liverpool have the most quality in depth attack in Europe. City have 1 striker. They had a good understudy who moved for more football. I would like us to use Osula more. I also don’t hate Gordon up top when he’s in form. this is one of the Eddie quirks I’m used too. I agree, I think, I always feel I'm too old to fully understand your posts I would love us to build a forward pool a la Liverpool's despite hating that club... It will be very difficult though. To be honest I've never known Newcastle to have a squad full of options it's like it's alien to us... We have some cracking teams over the years but always had a big drop off when anyone was injured. I do like some of the moves they have made to bolster the academy so praying they can come off!

Isak wasn't a ready made guaranteed to get you goals. He was a very good striker but a calculated risk who came from another league, but I would say he's worked out ok. Other teams seem to be able to identify talent from overseas and make them work as well. It's a fucking nonsense! The PL is far more like other continental leagues now than it ever was and players are protected from the physicality that originally defined the PL - that was often the make or break. Money was only thing that could transcend any side to winning things. Now that's been controlled so the ones with large revenues are pretty much insulated from others bring able to compete, the only fun is hoping you sign a great player before a cartel club does, sell on for profit to hope to repeat the process to at best get within touching distance of 3rd or a trophy. We used to want a team that tries, but now it has to be one that has to tries but with one arm tied behind its back while a bunch at the top have none tied at all. The disadvantage it's making it so soulless and pointless. It just feels inevitable Bruno and Isak will ask to leave and it's a roll of the dice if that money gets anything as good, and if it does, it all feels like the same loop will occur. What a load of fun I am today

Majority in the league don't have an owner ready to throw few billion at a new stadium just to get about 10% more close revenue wise to the cartel cunts. TheBrownBottle
24 minutes ago, DiddyLevine said: What about the formation ? 433 isnt football its athletics We currently play 433 without the athletics ... 4-3-3 could be argued to be the perfect formation - it is the total football formation, requiring skill, intelligence and yes, athleticism. Michels and Cruyff favoured it with good reason. We saw it work best when players could switch positions - which is why Burn at LB wasn’t at all the disaster that lots made out, and why Joelinton and Willock on the left switching out made it work. It doesn’t work well with a player sat in a holding role and not moving forwards, with full back who won’t overlap, and with wingers and midfielders not moving to cover other positions. That’s what we were doing well and it’s in part why we have seen such a drop-off - we’re not playing as you’re required to in that formation. We lack guile and movement. 4-2–3-1 was always a blandly defensive formation, and no less reliant on athleticism. It produces miserable football. Hence our old mate the king used it during his time at SJP. And it absolutely needs a ‘10’, which we don’t have. The problem we have is that we don’t have the personnel to play either particularly well. edit: and it’s also why our transfer policy deserves criticism and scrutiny. The squad build hasn’t been great, and we have a ‘lop-sided’ squad not built for any particular form of football. Which is why DoF exist and you don’t give a manager complete power at a football club. Staveley and co overindulged Howe. The thing is they have sold players for a good fee aswell (Mane and Fabinho for instance). Going back further, to 2017 when they bought Salah, they also sold Coutinho for 135 mill euros. They paid less for van Dijk and Salah combined in that very same window. Edited 36 minutes ago by Erikse
