Agreed on Barnes and yes we’ve been poor selling players too.

JoeyBartoon
People keep rightly highlighting how Isak is a big miss but personally I think the problems at the back are gonna be more problematic moving forward

The game plan was fine. We were let down by individual errors again. The first goal was as soft as fuck and Wilson missed a sitter.

Wolfcastle
3 minutes ago, Matt1892 said: I’ve just gone through Liverpools home stats in games this season, we managed 3 shots and all were off target which is the worst from any away team at Anfield in the league, even behind Ipswich who only managed 3 shots but all of them were on target. Man City was slightly better, we managed 3 shots and one on target, which is the second worst attacking performance against them after Ipswich who managed one shots that they scored with. That's as meaningful to the managers performance as beating the second best team in the country three times already this season with them barely having a sniff. Anybody else done that? TRon
7 minutes ago, Jordan said: One was offside though and i’m certain that had he scored the second, they would have went up the other end and scored again. They cruised through the game tonight. I’m being negative but i’m so sick of seeing this kind of performance at this ground. It’s infuriating and it’s a weak mentality. We’re beat before the game even starts. Well yeah, but the mentality is the problem, not that Liverpool are unbeatable, they have defensive weaknesses, we just can't keep the ball long enough to get it that far up the pitch. Steve Bruce or Pardew would probably have more success with the hump it long tactic.

I don’t think he got it massively wrong in any area, they are just a far better side than us right now. Isak would have likely scored Wilson’s second through on goal chance. It's a pretty meaningless stat in the context of the game. As soon as the first goal goes in it's all about just staying in the game as long as possible. Maybe we should've surrendered possession with some hopeful digs from range just to avoid the zero against SOT.

Barnes was a weird one in hindsight atleast. Dont think he is a bad player, but paying £40m for a backup is strange considering our squad depth. We've been through this hundreds of times, we didn't know that Gordon was going to be mint and only play left, and we needed goals in the front line. I actually think getting more out of Barnes would really help us, I just don't know how we do it.

All the while we had a RW spot that hadn’t been invested in for 4 years. It was a crazy decision that made absolutely no sense at the time and is hurting us now as we’re playing Murphy there with no competition.
