Great little interview that. 

 

Not to stereotype your average football players brain capacity, ok go on then, but you can see why finding the right players that can adjust and thrive under Howe can be challenging or bedding players in takes time. 

 

Credit to those with English not their first or second language!

Don't think it'll happen, but I'd love to start the season with any new signings we get, just have a feeling he'll play safe and the likes of Pope, Burn & Murphy will start at Villa. Would just prefer to see us attack the season with the perceived best team (new keeper, Botman, new RW).

I mean, Burn & Murphy 100% deserve to start, Burn in particular was our best CB last season and was comfortably our player of the season, so for him to not start would be a banana's decision imo.

Eddie won't pick a side based on last seasons performance or "ooh play the new kid" he'll do it based on the needs of the game who's doing the business in training.

 

He'll pick what he considers is the team likely best suited to win the game.

That is all very well but that is not the way to share minutes around the squad to prevent fatigue and injury

Agreed but Eddie how gives players squad time also based on how they perform in training. He’s said as much several times. Can’t be arsed to go looking for quotes.

If you look at the impact of Howe in that first season, I doubt there has ever been a more profound improvement made on a team second half of season (would have qualified for Champions League on the points per game for last 19 games; certainty for relegation challenging lowest ever points tally on ppg fir first 19 games). 
That impact, that remarkable improvement (with mainly the same squad) is possibly a greater achievement of his (and the wider club) leadership than the two CL qualifications or League Cup win.

Always believed he's the man, and will continue to do so. When he came under some pressure, I felt it was entirely unfair and unjust.

 

The fact Eddie Howe's Newcastle finished 7th in the 23/24 season with so many injuries and no signings is massively underrated. We lost 1,950 days due to injury.

 

For reference, before that season started people had us down to finish 23/24 in around 4th-8th, alongside Spurs, Manchester United, Villa etc.

 

Spurs blamed injuries on their poor league season this year with 1,553 days lost - Man Utd only 1295 days lost. They both finished 17th & 16th, respectively.

 

Doesn't even count the fact Tonali was suspended from Oct onwards either.

 

Akin to Mourinho finishing 2nd with that Man Utd team - hugely overlooked and unrecognised. Only after, you stop and think.

 

He's absolutely elite.

Agree with this. I was pretty underwhelmed with the Howe appointment even though he was clearly streets ahead of Bruce. Think that feeling of being underwhelmed stemmed mainly from the fact I was gutted about missing out on Emery mind. Chuffed the way it turned out in the end obviously.

Difficult to know for sure, but is he? Is he the one in charge of deciding wages / transfer fee? Genuine question. We seem uniquely transfer constipated.

Not sure. But our targets are all at clubs who aren’t desperate to sell and/or have competition from bigger clubs for their players. 
 

If speed was so necessary, we’d be shopping in a different pool of players.
