Vinny Green Balls
My biggest criticism of Howe is it seems to take a dozen games for us to click since he's been here. When we do, we're fine, but that's going to prevent us from challenging the top 2 if it isn't sorted out. Give him more benefit of the doubt to some degree because we lost Isak. But this has been the trend every season bar the fluke results that finally caught up with us last (by December we were where we deserved at that point). If Howe figures out quick starts to seasons, we'll be unstoppable under him.
joeyt
We've lost to Liverpool, Arsenal and Barcelona this season by the odd goal. With better execution and discipline we could have won any one or all of them. I understand the frustrations but I think some people need to realise the opposition we're playing. They're very good teams with resources we don't have. I'm surprised at the criticism and negativity constantly
Dr.Spaceman
People need to stop taking any slightly negative critique to heart like. It's fine saying EH could have done something different today, not done this or that and still being a huge fan of his and have an overall positive outlook for the rest of the season. I genuinely ask that question and glad that you remind me that he did it once against the gunner last season. Even you agree that he got it wrong today so I don’t think you would want Howe to try this 532 again next game? and sometimes Howe played a very aggressive / high pressing 3-4-3 formation. That’s different from the 5-3-2 park the bus we played on the second half today. Hence I asked that question how about you stop pivoting? Was 5 at the back for defense. This was pretty much similar but hold on for dear life when we had a lead. Just admit that you forgot that it did work a couple of times and move on. It was great for a second when the formation was a surprise. But yes, the surprise is over.

Zero
WTF am I debating here when I just ask a question that I wonder why Howe played this 532 formation so many times… and yea you are right he got it spot on a few times last season so that’s a good reply and glad to have that reply, that’s it. Jesus.
Ronaldo
He’s turned some difficult situations around but this one might be the most challenging. We don’t have a cheat code this season and are really going to have to function properly out wide and through the middle to pin teams back, keep it and create opportunities. My instinct is he wants to evolve our style of play but we didn’t make the acquisitions to do it. Particularly, losing out on Mbuemo and settling on Elanga instead is a massive game changer. Memphis
I think it’s very possible to appreciate all that Eddie has done and know that he’s an outstanding coach and person while also noting that he is struggling this season. Responding to fair criticism is how people improve. Eddie himself believes in that and uses it with his players. So he will also be aware that he has not been good enough. We don’t seem to have a consistent way of playing going forward, we are not linking well between the lines, he’s not gotten the rotation right either. There are reasons for all of that, of course, and anyone calling for him to be sacked is stupid. However, he needs to do a better job, as do several of his players. It’s not unfair to point that out. Yorkie
I find anyone saying that today is all on him absolutely risible tbh. Even Burn starting at LB did no harm. I think Saka got past him once; into any space at least. It's so clear to me that the game pivoted on the Tino injury. The CBs and Pope were dealing with absolutely everything prior to then; reducing them to the odd half-chance here and there. Then when we got to the point in the game where we could go all-out-defence with the five, I felt extremely confident we could get it over the line because we're so hard to break down. Maybe there is some criticism to be thrown at him for how he reacted to the Tino injury but frankly I dunno what I'd have done differently. Put Hall on the bench, I guess. Seems a weird choice to keep him away from the squad altogether. Clearly we felt that the four was susceptible to being breached, hence the switch to five, and what do you know; that's what happened. Merino's goal is an absolutely beauty and you have to say, fair enough, Arsenal deserve at least a point. But I would never, ever have begrudged us one of those shithousing, all out defence results for us. We'd have earned it. Then Pope undid his incredible performance with one moment of utter madness. Fail to see how it's all on Howe. I said it the other day but, to my absolute dismay, we're going into another four-competition season which is becoming totally dictated by injuries. If Tino is properly fucked it is an absolute piss-take. He's probably been our best player all season.

HaydnNUFC
Don’t think anyone has said it’s all on Howe tbh. The Anfield Rat is massively to blame, but I’d have hoped he’d have had a better attacking game plan in the second half than hoofing it in Elanga’s general direction. Agree with a lot of this when it comes to the top 5/6. I think we'll eventually get to a similar points total as last season, but it'll be by beating that mid-group more often and losing more to the top sides. Isak was that "X-factor" that got us the draws and wins against these teams, I think our squad with the new forwards will eventually start being more consistent against the rest, though. I think we haven't been good enough to start every season here with him, but am fully confident that he will get it right, as he always has in the past. I was least confident in 21-22, but still had a feeling based on very little that he was the right man for the job even when it was grim. Probably down to something utterly stupid like he reminds me of Steve Kerr. But now the evidence is in, I have total confidence in him righting the ship. Seemingly I've misread but many people have all but said so. The point is I thought the game-plan had 'hard fought win/draw' all over it until the injury. We're playing a quality team and our attack is spearheaded by an expensive rookie who was gassed after an hour, and replaced by the Danish Shola. It's no great surprise to me that we were a bit passive and searching for opportunities on the break. @Doctor Zaius did we even get to a five? To me we were four for almost the entirety, other than a couple minutes before Tino went off. We might even win with the five tbh.
