We’ve gone backwards under him since tail end of last season. The rot has continued.

Look at our fixtures this season.

Villa (a) Toothless and playing against 10 men against a very out of form team for 30 mins.

Liverpool (h) Raised our game probably due to the crowd being so hostile and the players trying to prove a point, dumb sending off. Should have had a point, threw it away.

Leeds (a) Toothless again, no striker the excuse but again against a poor side.

Wolves (h) Poor performance but Wolt goal was enough against a very poor side.

Bournemouth (a) Poor again against a mid table team.

Arsenal (h) They played us off the park and although we scored first, we couldn’t hang on for even a point.

Forest (h) Ange.

Brighton (a) Awful again. Deserved nothing.

Our form overall is not what you’d expect from a team who qualified for the Champions League and who spent heavily.

If this was Steve Bruce or Steve McClaren the reaction would be very different.

Yes Howe has credit in the bank, but how many seasons are we going to just accept very poor runs of form like what we’re on now?

This game isn’t just a one off.. we’ve only beaten teams in the relegation spots.

I just wonder if the players are just fatigued by the effort put in over last few seasons and nobody who’s come in has seemed good enough to come in and give us a boost. We just look shot and devoid of ideas.

Answers on a postcard.

his form is 6 games or so. Their's was the majority of seasons. Massive difference if you are actually bothering to look at the bigger picture. Hence why it is an insane take.

With the players we have NOW, we should be doing better than that.

I don’t see where the improvement is coming from this time. Maybe Wissa will transform the attack if he ever gets fit, but at whose expense will his place in the side be?

9 points after 8 games this season, this was after 8 games last 3 seasons.

24-25 12 pts
23-24 13 pts
22-23 8pts

Once we get it clicking we will be okay, still plenty games to play, next 3 games in all comps at home. Personally think any form of Europe qualification and a good cup run or two would be a good season

Howe’s attacking tactics needs a very attacking full back to provide overlap threat for the wingers. Where are Tino and Hall?  That’s the answer you need.

Same crack every season.

Start slow or have a rough patch early doors.

Players are written off, the knives sharpen for Howe and certain posters get a throb on about the Saudis binning him.

Howe turns it round.

We exceed expectation.

Howe is hailed as a genius and attention turns to the transfer window.

I don’t think it’s entirely fair.

Howe is criticised for the same things season in season out.

The number reason being that we can’t break down team with a low block. Others are that he is too slow/reactive to making changes, won’t drop certain players despite performances, takes ages to integrate new players, and drops points/loses to the same old teams.

You can give Howe criticism without wanting him replaced.

Not that there is anyone out there who I think could replace him at the moment.

I see the bedsheet stainers are back in business. Eddie will take his licks off today. A bad bounce of the ball for Welbeck’s second and a Dan Burn toe end away from getting something.

I’m sure he’ll devise the right plan to get the wingers back on track and hopefully Joelinton can be given the breather he needs to heal up as he definitely wasn’t fit today.

I’m not saying he should be fired, but what he’s doing isn’t working and he’s never shown a willingness to change the style of play even though teams are now well onto the things that used to work for us.

If Ross Wilson has any vision and/or clout, he’ll be trying to persuade Howe to bring in the type of players that we know are missing from our squad and get a better balance.

We know we need a proper no.6. Bruno and Tonali are more than good enough to play either side of that in a midfield.

We control the middle of the park and we involve the wide players in much better positions.

But then that does ask the question of the profile of players we’ve signed, Ramsey for example, what’s he supposed to be here? Elanga just looks off the pace and low on confidence. Osula is not good enough.

We also have to look at players who just aren’t doing it for us here. Gordon has been playing like he wants out. Barnes never gets a run in the side, again.. 40m.. what’s the plan for him here?

Howe is untouchable for me. Still think the summer window was disappointing. No signings to help us push on really, apart from Woltemade but he’s still young and learning

Why is he untouchable?

Winning something should never be an everlasting free pass.

If Man City had that blind loyalty, Mancini would still be there and they’d not have won even a fraction as much.

If he doesn’t start to change styles this season he likely is gone at the end of the year. Aging squad, this will be his 5th season and when players start to need a new voice or a change in style.

Thats no slight on Howe but outside of Pep and Ferguson it happens to all managers.

Not keen on any of our wingers. Pretty much detest Gordon at this point in his NUFC career wish we sold him to Liverpool when we had the chance. Barnes was a pointless signing. Murphy does everything wrong but somehow gets the ball where it needs to be and Elanga hasn't started well. You can't carry both flanks like this, not with a new striker who lacks pace. We need them firing. Doesn't help our two most mobile FB's are injured and now we're relying on Burn at LB. Honestly would have rather played Joelinton there. As for Joelinton, he looks finished. Said the time to sell him was this summer, hopefully Saudi are interested next year and we get our money back (can't count anything above to FFP)

Pope has been really good, but we can't move forward with him in nets. Ramsdale needs to get in and stay in.

Bruno hasn't been playing well for some time, not consistently. Odd moment, but not the player we are used to. Tonali has carried the team at times.

You can blame the manager for all that if you like, after all a lot of them are his signings, but they need to be accountable for their shit performances and terrible decisions on the pitch, and that mainly lies at the wingers and unfortunately Bruno. We need more from them.

Howe needs to find something different with our midfield. Keeps rolling out the same three and more importantly, same flat 3 approach and too often it shows the same limitations in games like today. When it works, it works, when it doesn’t, it’s bad.

Just no change up, unless Joe is injured and he goes 3-4-3 :D

People didn’t see where improvement was coming from over the last three seasons. Then it came. Perhaps you should take a step back and see the overall trends of the last few years.

if Howe ever sorts out our slow starts, we’ll soon be a juggernaut.
