Abacus
And of his summer signings, Wissa hasn't played, Ramsey barely has both of those because of injuries, Ramsdale in brief cameos has looked sound, Thiaw looks excellent, and Woltemade looks like a superstar in the making. samptime29
8 wins 3 draws 5 losses. Hardly a disaster. Not saying we don't have flaws (away form needs sorting) but we're clearly a good side. Been in 2 final in 3 years, won one of them. Champs League twice in 3 years. Howe is the man.
KaKa
It's become very apparent we need better alternative and more dynamic options at full back, as it's a big part of how the team progresses the ball up the pitch. Alternatively, we'll need to go a lot more direct while Trippier and Burn are playing and stop faffing about with the ball at the back as they are both giving it away so much trying to force passes that aren't there because they can't take the ball past anyone even when the space is there to do so. Hope Howe makes the adjustment for Brentford.

Mountain
My only criticism is that we don't hold the ball enough. No wonder the players get tired, just keep the ball for a bit, play some triangles and save some energy. Just control the tempo, not everything has to be an attack, just chill. We have the players to do this but it's a tactical choice not to and away games we need to as it's not working. Otherwise, hard to complain about the man. I'm sure Emery could do a good job with the team now, but there's no way he brings us back from the brink of death like Eddie, that shit was incredible. Then you watch his Bournemouth documentary and you realize oh shit this probably didn't even stress him out, he started with positive points and didn't even have to play his assistant coach at center back. Pilko
We drew away at AC Milan and PSG in the CL last time out didn't we? That says 0 CL draws. Edited November 6, 2025 by Pilko

sugoinufc
our attack is weak at the moment and probably the main reason for our poor / swingning performances...
Lucky
It’s not just having more of the ball, we had over 70% in the second half at West Ham, it’s what we do with it when we have the ball that’s the problem, especially when teams sit back and go compact. We’re still a counter attacking team for the most part. Not sure what the fix is, can’t say it’s personnel because Bruno and Sandro are technically gifted players and they could easily adjust to playing for a team like City. Just don’t think that’s his style as a manager - it’s more about quick transitions to exploit space.

Said it in another thread I think after West Ham, possibly before. But our build up is painful at times. Our players always seem miles apart and really slow to shift the ball. No idea if such a metric exists, but it feels like we have the most distance between our lines/players on average. The insistence on trying to build attacks down the flanks is a real head scratcher, and all. As it is usually where our less talented ball players have been positioned. We have two great ball playing CB's, various CM's that are comfortable on the ball and a striker that is desperate for it into feet. Yet we just slowly pass along the back, before either losing it, going long or trying to work openings down the line. Which often results in us losing it cheaply off a poor touch, pass or lay off. All that said, I think we are trying to change a bit this season and there have been some results. We have scored some slick goals from nice passing moves already. A work in progress, perhaps? Not meaning to be negative after another good result. I just saw this post and agreed with a lot of it. Edited November 6, 2025 by Lush Vlad
AyeDubbleYoo
I guess it’s just generally more dangerous to pass the ball straight into midfield I guess. I loved how we managed it versus Bradford but since then we haven’t managed it as much.

Teams are probably getting tight to the likes of Bruno and Sandro and blocking the passing lanes. We've always been bad at trying to play round a press. We just regularly seem to have congested areas down the flanks, then midfielders and players in general miles apart. Passes rarely even seem on and we don't seem capable of even semi-regularly creating openings in our build up. It's not a new thing. It's been one of my only gripes with Howeball since he joined. It's no surprise that we look so much better still when the game starts to open up. But that is quite reliant on us leading or maybe level until say the 60 minute mark and the other team having to take more risks.

Danh1
4 years of Howe. Safe to say it has been an incredible appointment. Looked certain to go down but then two champions league campaigns and a trophy later….. Hope we click soon and start rising again.
