Miggys First Goal
Illness going through the camp according to the gaffer.
Kanj
Pages upon pages upon pages of people over scrutinise a bad result against West Ham when clearly an illness in the camp likely had a major effect on our execution and energy levels

Ellis H
Howe said recently he hadn’t seen Woltemade going up against our own defenders because “unfortunately we haven’t been training much” because of the schedule so it’s certainly not ideal for a manager who’s really good at using training sessions to help develop players and get them meshed into the team. If we are going to become regular european side then that's a struggle that we need to handle every season.
Erikse
I know the change of formation hasn't worked at all, but I do wonder if there was ever a world where a 3-5-2 could have worked, with Gordon and Murphy on each wing, and Osula + Wolte up top. That way we wouldn't be playing 2 centrebacks at each fullback, and rather 3 at the back. It's a little more offensive than the 5-3-2 that we failed at earlier in the season. Probably not something worth considering anymore anyways with Hall getting back into fitness, though. Edited November 4, 2025 by Erikse

Absolutely. It’s a good example of why we need to be patient with him because it’s easy to forget where he was as a manager before he came here. He went from getting relegated and being unemployed to smashing PSG in the CL almost overnight and most situations like the Isak one, juggling a European schedule, having an huge transfer budget, managing world class players etc have been brand new to him. He’s been learning on the job since day one and it’s something that will hold us back at times but hopefully we’ll be stronger in the long run as he develops. Sibierski
3 hours ago, Yorkie said: Our best runs of form often come in bursts where we have lots of games in a short space of time - and there's no excuses for how bad we were on Sunday - but I reckon the odd bit of time on the training ground is probably helpful like. Certainly in terms of integrating new players during pre-season. It's a pretty commonly-held view that the manager does a lot of his best work on the training pitch, or did you never buy that? I do buy the more time he can have working with players they improve, instead of training being 'rest, recover, tactical work, match, rest, recover' and so on. But that's individuals getting better, not the collective team play which is a persisting issue away from home that's now moving into dropping points to sides that will finish season bottom 6 (West Ham / Leeds), unlike last season where it was a clean sweep of those sides. I'm not his biggest fan by any stretch, but moving Thiaw and then Tonali to RB wasn't the answer. Not sure I’ve seen so many positional changes in a single game before, it was horrific and the players did not know wtf to do.

Not quite sure it was horrific. The changes actually put us on the front foot with loads of possession. However, we never did owt threatening with the ball. NG32
Since I've followed Newcastle United from the very early 80s, Eddie Howe has achieved the most out of all the managers we have had.

Geogaddi
People criticising his summer signings also forget he tried to get us genuine next level sort of players, but none of them wanted to come here and went elsewhere.
