Yeah there’s definitely that argument against but I’d argue (and this isn’t my actual opinion just a hunch) that maybe the plan was to step it up and down during games rather than bossing the ball and dominating that way. 
 

Anyway it’s just a throwaway theory I’ve thought about since the first couple of games.  

Full backs being out has definitely hampered us going forward too but that doesn’t explain the rest (and we’ve alright IMO at home)

It’s plain to see that Burn and Trippier as full backs is absolutely killing us in possession and beating the press. It’s our biggest problem in my opinion, followed by our wingers not being technically gifted footballers on the ball

Yep, I was thinking exactly the same thing about him being an ambassador for our club. I don't like the football we are playing this season, but I still shudder to think we had Pardew and Bruce before this man. Eddie made us proud of our club again. He will go down a legend.

The problem I think is that we still play the same tactics with Woltemade up top that we did with Isak, and it is leaving us looking toothless because Woltemade comes deep rather than playing on the shoulder of the last man and the wide forwards are still out hugging the touch line.

 

He will get the season unless the home fans turn on him and the team, which could happen sooner rather than later.

Trippier's not so bad, he's still a good footballer even if the pace has gone. But just look at the difference Hall made in just a few minutes with that run and cross which almost ended in a goal. Burn is getting destroyed down that left side, players know they can get at him.

And I would still think that even if it comes to the point sometime that I think his has done what he can here and I want a change.

The problem is that our only successfull playing style doesn't work when we are playing twice a week.

We’re watching different levels of effort then. You can have different tactics for different teams and where you’re playing but we’re getting outworked away from home, especially in midfield. 
 

Especially against the likes of Brentford, Villa, Bournemouth and Brighton most seasons and you’ll be able to add other “lower” teams this season. I’m not having it that we’re putting the effort in or simply following Howe’s instructions. It will be really interesting when we play Sunderland; put the West Ham/ Brentford effort in and we lose. 
 

Good teams, with good players, perform at maximum level. all of the time. We’ve got good players who aren’t performing away from home. Players can change the game and performance levels on the pitch; we aren’t doing that just now. 
 

It’s really concerning, we’re a soft touch away from home.

Without Tino and Hall you can’t play these 2 together as full backs - we had to go 3 at the back with Schar coming in

 

I would have gone Schar - Botman - Thiaw - you then have Schar and Thiaw to bring the ball out 

 

Murphy and Hall as wing backs - Miley and Tonali holding with Bruno behind Barnes and Woltemade 

 

It’s not worked all season and yet EH persists with the same tactics and personnel

Trippier’s passing from defensive positions while under minimal pressure has been very poor this season
