It’s a big game but not everything. I don’t give Sunderland a second thought for 99% of the season. 
 

Certainly not anywhere near the mental implications that Dokko was suggesting. 
 

Agreed I luckily don’t interact with their fans on a daily basis.

I think our problem when we are trying to see a game out apart from dropping far too deep, is we leave two players on that seem to get drawn to the ball and make mistakes when there tired. Burn, bruno, teams normally get joy out of them two eventually after knocking on the door. Howe could maybes sub them late on in games for fresh minds and bodies when we need it most.

Sorry, why is it suddenly cool to not give a shit about losing the derby?

 

Quite rightly our season doesn't hinge on it and there will be lots more important games, but it still has a level of importance to it where getting beat absolutely sucks and winning it would be class for both fans and players.

 

Is this just a hangover from the Pardew derby wallopings era where people are used to and resigned to a disaster happening or something?

I agree with you & my original post wasn't aimed at you in particular, although I can see on re-reading that it seems that way - sorry.

 

I'd of course choose the latter scenario over the former. But, I think a lot of people seem to be underplaying the derby like it doesn't matter at all and of course we don't have to make that call, we can avoid defeat in the derby and still get CL.

Just on a financial basis.  Howe has been let down in terms of day to day support, but he’s had funds to spend - until this summer, those funds have been really well used.  Jury is still out on this summer’s, but it doesn’t look at the moment like they’ve all been well spent.

Probably costs me half the price of your season ticket to go to one game, and I still go to a few every season.  It isn't that straight forward for everyone to go.
