But he was still heavily involved.

With Ashworth around we don't sign all of Wissa, Ramsey, Ramsdale & Elanga. There's been a clear change in transfer approach since he left. We've not signed the Minteh, Tino or Hall profiles since he left.

To be fair, between Ashworth leaving and this summer, we signed no one. Then when the time came, we had no Sporting Director, gaping holes all over the squad and we were turned down by multiple targets, it was a mess.

We originally targeted players like Delap and Huijsen, who fit that profile.

Wonder how he's feeling today. Hopefully broken. I want this to be a scar he carries for the rest of his time here, so it never happens again.

I surprisingly voted no to sacking him, but he has no credit left in the bank. He'll be judged game on game. It's in his hands now, let's see what he's made of. No excuses.

I don’t agree on the ‘no credit in the bank’ line but there’s no question yesterday was absolutely terrible and his comms after it also did not capture the mood music very well imho.

I also wonder how they’re feeling today and whether they ‘get’ the magnitude of it. Gut feel is that some of them don’t give a shit.

We signed Kelly & Osula. And not signing players is a choice. Failing to land targets is on us. And i've just clocked, we started swinging and missing on a lot more targets after Ashworth left (publicly at least).

Everything has it's pros and cons too.

I'm not Howe Out and he does have credit in the bank after the cup win but there's only so long that credit can last.

He deserves until the end of the season to turn this round and it is a transition season after losing Isak but he has to take full responsibility for this transfer window just gone, Elanga is shocking and we spent a fortune on Jacob Ramsay and he hasn't had much of a sniff.

We've had past seasons of starting off poorly and then Eddie gets things clicking

Away form has been dreadful and he deserves stick for yesterday as that was a pathetic performance but the players are all to blame for that as well.

Really annoys me that he hasn't come out in the press after the game and bollocked the players as no one looked arsed, fairs he isn't one to throw players under the bus and is Mr Nice but says everything when Bruno has came out saying yesterday was embarrassing.

What were Howes comments?

‘Focused and prepared as well as they can. Not a lack of effort. Felt the guys that come off the bench did well and added a different dimension. That the effort and endeavour was there’.

I just can’t get on board with any of those views tbh.

Just call it what it is. We were fucking awful and he got everything wrong. From team selection to the system to the prep. Everything wrong.

Funny to be so motivated and annoyed by our photo then do the same thing yourselves to motivate us for next time

Got to admit it isn’t exactly the “gotcha” they think considering they haven’t done it on our turf

You could get 11 blokes from the pub to give you effort and endeavour man. These are, mostly, international footballers who looked completely lost. That starting front line were absolutely disgraceful. Just fucking anonymous. The fact they all came out to start the 2nd half is all on Eddie and was a shocking decision.

We've got to play to our strengths, it's as basic and simple as that, we make chances by pressing aggressively and turning the ball over high up the pitch or by hitting our pacy wingers at speed from a low block. We don't have the players to build up slowly while the other team resets and trying to play our way through two banks of 4, it's not a mystery why we are so toothless.

Just go back to what works because even in 2023 with half the team out injured it was more enjoyable than this turgid lethargy.

Yesterday was abysmal, easily the worst performance under Howe, incredibly disappointing and in keeping with a fairly miserable season so far.

But anyone seriously suggesting sacking him at this stage is way off the mark imo. We're midtable and not adrift yet from the european spots, we're in one quarter final with a home tie and looking good for at least a CL play-off spot. In terms of the competitions we're in, it's all going... fine? Not good, but not terrible. You don't sack a manager who won a trophy 8 months ago for that.

There's a lot wrong, and a lot to sort out, but he's more than earned the grace to try to sort it. The performances haven't been nearly good enough and to an extent we're quite lucky that they haven't been as damaging as they could've been. By all means look again at the end of the season and if it's all completely fallen apart with no sign of improvement then consider whether it's time to look at a next step. But in December? Where we currently are? Crazy stuff.
