Eddie needs to be more ruthless - how Gordon gets into this side ahead of Barnes is beyond me.  Gordon's form has been abysmal - not a goal from open play in 20+ games. And he needs to have a chat with Tonali - if his head is not in it anymore - sell him.  He is a million miles from the player at the start of the season.

I don’t believe in the clubs leadership to take us forward without Howe.

I will have zero patience for the entire regime without Eddie.

The league season is dead. Might as well see if Eddie can gain some positive momentum in the second half of the season. He’s been dealt a brutal hand with the Isak situation, followed by Wissa’s injury. Seeing the season out is the least he deserves.

Hrs definitely struggling to find a way to get his patters and game plans across with the lack of training ground time.

It's something he's going to need to learn to overcome, granted a semi-normal pre-season would help.

I came to say the same, we struggled in the same way with the CL schedule last time

He signs system players but without the time on the training ground with them it’s not happening, we have gone with this simplistic passive away style to negate the lack of mid week training sessions but it hasn’t worked. Going out of the CL will see us hit form again, I have no doubts. As it is no one looks that sharp, the simple patterns of play a lot of the time involving Woltemade are not coming off

Long term it becomes an issue

Im not turning on Eddie but the argument that he won us a trophy..Alex McLeish and Michael Laudrup won the same trophy..Brendan Rodgers won FA Cup with Leicester..

We have been largely poor since beginning of May , we have gotten stale..Its no all Eddies fault..Gordon has been useless for 10 months

Sad and predictable responses in here.

Dominated every aspect of the game but couldn't score.  Couldn't find any space against their back 6. Poor subs, someone should have taken their chances for us tonight.

It’s not just tonight tho is it? It’s been largely shite all season

I’m not calling for Howe’s head yet but he was part of the decision making for the poor window. Who spunked £95m on Elanga and Ramsey?

Why was he even able to do that ?

a club with proper leadership wouldn’t have had the summer we had.

Anthony Elanga is an Antony level signing for £80m.  It’s not a transfer a well run club makes.  I wouldn’t be counted as a ‘football person’ and I could tell you after 2 appearances Antony or Elanga are worth the money paid.  You get 3 decent football people of equal autonomy and they wouldn’t sanction that move.

Howe is great and our problem has been abysmal talent ID and dealings over last two summers. His influence there should be aggressively curtailed.

Exactly... People on here dont want to hear it though. His signings and our general scouting have been dreadful. Villa must be pissing themselves laughing we paid 40 million for Ramsey and helped them out with their PSR troubles.

TBF we totally dominated the team 5th in the league on their home turf, with a bit of luck we could have won this at a canter, just need a bit of luck cos we are playing better.

Calling for his head at this stage of the season with everything still to play for is crackers

I think the windows have been good.

I haven't been blaming the players for a long time.

Don't think this loss is down to Howe or his tactics. Our general play tonight was great. We lack that cutting edge, which is a recurring issue, especially without Isak. Our recent displays after the derby show that we are moving in the right direction. Hopefully, with some reinforcements next month and injured players returning, we will soon start a good run of form.

Not too sure about that. He wasn't a 433 at Bournemouth and does seem to look to get the best out of what hes got. If he stays 433 when we have 3 forwards then Id have more doubts.

I hate his Gordon has to be on the left love though.

What has he changed with us this season?

He now has Wissa available to him and he’s both not playing him aside from the cup game, and when he does bring him on, he takes off Woltemade instead playing 2 up front.

His subs when he does make them, appears to be change the wingers, which doesn’t seem to work at any point.

My doubts about Eddie are growing!

How can you take off your best goalscorer after 67 minutes in such a one-sided second half (Manu was practically knocked out)?!

I'm playing with two strikers, damn it – Wolte and Wissa! Schär is playing striker in some situations, and Wolte, at 2 meters tall, is sitting on the bench!

I'm so angry with Eddie today.

And Gordon only played terrible crosses!

I couldn’t see him turning it around after Brentford last season and he proved me well and truly wrong. But I really cannot see it this time. There is too much wrong with the team.

No world class goal scorer. Key players who look awful compared to their best, Tonali, Gordon, Bruno (in away games). Big players who are or have been missing and are getting that bit older. Burn, Joelinton, Pope. New signings that for the most part, haven’t really done it yet or look wildly inconsistent so far (Woltemade).

Throw in how predictable and scared we play away from home and the complete lack of creativity throughout the side. It’s

not a great mix.

Did as much as we could have second half without actually scoring , if we played like that most away games we wouldn't be struggling .

Just have to hope that every PL team fields a reserve side and instructs them to sit back, like Man Utd today.
