Lose midweek and we’ll have an answer to the question as to whether the owners are ruthless, if they are, he’ll be in big trouble (rightly or wrongly).

I still expect and want him to see out the season but that’s getting really precarious.

I'd be amazed if doesn't see out the season, Fantail.

Trippier is really hanging out Thiaw to dry with the way he’s been paying these last few games

Aye, funnily enough i work with a lot of Tottenham fans who said Tripps was defensively terrible. Goes to Simeone and gets trained to defend in a 4-4-2, Tripps has lost that discipline now. He's back to the Tottenham version, but 10 years older and slower.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, I totally agree that people shouldn't be expected to name players when someone says "who should we get then?", but that it absolutely applies to managers.

Of the managers I've seen suggested they've either shown or proved nothing more than Howe has, and/or they're fantastical.

If only it was as black and white as that. Had Arteta done that prior to succeeding Emery at Arsenal? Maresca to Pochettino? Andrews to Frank at Brentford?

Obviously.

But ask yourself if Howe was in charge of Arsenal do you think they'd be 12th in the PL?

If Arteta was in charge of us do you think we'd be top of the the league/CL?

I'm merely pointing out they they vastly different levels of squads available to them. This isn't a controversial point

But that’s not the point you made.  If Howe was managing Arsenal would they be cruising to the title?  If Arteta was at NUFC would we be 12th?

I’m not sure would be the obvious response.

I just don’t see the point in the comparison.

Gonna be a lot of managers testing the market after the World Cup. And I have a feeling PIF is aware of this.

I’d be amazed if they are aware of anything.

A loss to Spurs, who are worse than shite, and going out the Cup next week should really see him getting his P45 before it gets really messy. Nobody wants to see that.

Yep.  I seem to remember predictions of Brentford’s demise post-Frank.  Likewise Brighton post-Potter.

It is almost as if excellent scouting and player acquisition is more important than coaching - and that in terms of coaching, top drawer coaches are more common than people think.

Brilliant comments tbf.

He's always a great speaker tbh. But what's out there on the pitch doesn't translate as well.

Get to the summer, let a few players leave and fix the issues with the squad.

It is absolutely set up for a new coach to come in at seasons end.

For the board it is down to Eddie to prove himself all over again. Get the team back into Europe or win a cup or he is gone. A side question is how long until Eddie gets tired of that scenario and walks?

If he doesn't there is a fair amount of money to spend. Lots of older players out of contract and possibly more money if the manager (new or old) sells the likes of Tonali/Tino/Gordon etc.

There is a huge squad makeover coming in the summer either way. Shame its a WC year to get in the way.

I think Howe is such an honorable bloke he might just walk, his interview tonight felt like hes not enjoying it anymore, personally I think hes been let down by PIF
