Lotus
was a bit surprised by the high line in the first half last night. our FBs got turned pretty easily. we sorted it out though. was easier after oderbert went off. I was calling for Burn to come in for Hall but I expected him to stay close to Botman. Acted like an opposing magnet instead. Anyway, got hold of the situation. Miggys First Goal
Carrick? The Wallsend lad that sucks the cock of Manchester United? That Carrick? 54
1 hour ago, TheEntertainer said: I don't want Howe out, but if you want a list of names who could have a go at doing a job and are realistic in the summer: Iraola Glasner Carrick (if he doesn't get the Man U job longterm) Nuno? Mourinho? Southgate? Alonso? I'm not convinced any of them would do a better job than Howe, but they also probably wouldn't completely fuck it up? I think Alonso might not be interested and Nuno would be a risk, but they are all realistic and not crap. There's bound to be more big names on the continent who I just don't know about as well, Le Bris has done well at Sunderland and he was hardly a household name. Point is there are options, are they better options? Probably not. So, using this list: Iraola - The point of firing Howe would be to "take us to the next level", with this we'll be basically making the same appointment as we did when Howe came in 4 years ago it at best a sideways step, this'll be like Tottenham hiring Frank. Glasner - Same as Iraola Carrick - His one full time job was in the Championship, why is he on this list? Nuno - He's very good at keeping a team in a league, its been proven he's not good at a team wanting to compete at a higher level, and plays football that will get old very fast. Mourinho - Just no. Southgate - Just no. Alonso - Would be the only one on this list that I would contemplate if Howe where to ever leave. So a way to look at it is, if looking objectively, as a neutral, if a club where looking to appoint a manager, and Howe was on a short list with the above names, he would be number 1, and the clear number 1 choice for a Premier League side, so why would we as a club, who have Howe, and who has done an exceptional job to date at our club, ever replace him with any of the names above. I go back to the old statement, if someone was the right man for the job 4 months ago, they're the right man for the job now, especially if they have a body of work to back it up, which Howe does. Ellis H
Glasner would be a barrel of laughs when we don't buy anyone for 12 transfer windows in a row.

Bruno genuinely pushing Shearer, Beardsley, Milburn, etc, but Trippier for what he's done and has meant to us pushes him close as well.

Cronky
I'm a bit surprised and disappointed about the results of the poll. Surely Eddie has done more than enough to earn our trust. We're struggling in games when we're up against teams who have longer to rest and prepare. Brentford was a good example of that. When we play in midweek, we do better (eg in the Champions League games), because the playing field in respect of physical fitness is more level. When Eddie came here, he put his reputation on the line for a club that looked certain to go down. That would have been two successive relegations for him - practically career suicide. The guy is special and we need to back him through the hard times.

The guy is special and we need to back him through the hard times. I don't think the poll looks bad for him - 8.2% saying they want rid now so 90%+ want to stick with him as it stands. He's still the guy for me for what it's worth and seeing other clubs around/beneath us scrabbling about hoping that a managerial change leads to a sudden uptick in performance reinforces that belief. Looking at the fixtures we've got left I have us finishing on about 58 points which will probably be in the 8th/9th range. Maybe an underachievement but if we get a CL QF to go with the League Cup SF that's be enough to keep him in place. Obviously I wouldn't 100% rule out him thinking he's worn himself out and walking but as long as Hopkinson & Wilson stay in place it should give him at least a partial break over the summer to recharge the batteries.
